MMAJunkie.com is reporting that former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is expected to meet Thiago Silva at May's UFC 130.
Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) verbal agreements are in place for the fight.
UFC 130 takes place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Jackson vs. Silva likely will be part of the pay-per-view main card, possibly in a headlining or co-headlining spot.
Jackson is coming off a split decision win over former champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 in November in what was a very even fight.
Silva is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Brandon Vera at last weekend's UFC 125, where he continually smashed and embarrassed Vera en route to the victory.
A win could put Jackson in line for a title shot.
Multiple sources also are reporting that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will tussle with "The Ultimate Fighter 10" winner Roy Nelson on the same card, as Nelson's contract issues apparently are resolved, MMAJunkie.com also reports.
A source close to the negotiations told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) verbal agreements are in place for the heavyweight tilt.
An additional source said the contract issues that forced Nelson out of an early-year event aren't expected to be an issue.
A blog for the BetUS.com sportsbook first reported the fight, which is expected to take place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Nelson vs. Mir likely will be part of the pay-per-view main card.
Fights between Thiago Alves and Rick Story and Stefan Struve and Travis Browne also are expected for the card at this time.
