MMAWeekly.com reports:

An injury has forced Vitor Belfort out of his UFC 122 main event fight against Yushin Okami in Germany. In to replace Belfort will be Nate Marquardt, who just picked up a TKO win over Rousimar Palhares at UFC Fight Night 22.

Marquardt's placement in the fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the bout, who stated the fight has been signed for the new main event at UFC 122.

...

There has been no official word about the injury sustained by Belfort, but MMAWeekly.com will continue to follow the news and provide an update when more information is available.

To be honest, this isn't surprising since the UFC just had its big-money title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen scrapped due to Sonnen's positive drug test. I'd be really shocked if Belfort had an injury that would keep him out of the fight. If he is injured, I doubt it's serious, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him across from Silva come early 2011 for a middleweight title fight.

It's unfortunate timing in the sense that the UFC just officially announced UFC 122 earlier this week, but if Belfort does step in against Silva, it's the right move to make.
