The UFC welterweight championship clash between Georges St-Pierre and Josh Koscheck will happen in Canada after all.
After some speculation that the UFC might wait for an early 2011 Toronto event to stage the fight or that the event might be held in Las Vegas, UFC president Dana White told MMAFighting.com on Monday the show will take place Dec. 11 at Bell Centre in Montreal, St-Pierre's hometown.
St-Pierre and Koscheck first met at UFC 74 in August 2007, a fight won by St-Pierre by unanimous decision. Now, Koscheck has worked his way back to earn his first world title shot. The two are opposing coaches on the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter" which will debut Sept. 15.
Koscheck earned his shot by beating Paul Daley by unanimous decision at UFC 113, also in Montreal, in May. He has won 6-of-8 fights since losing to St-Pierre.
St-Pierre is coming off the fourth defense of his welterweight title, a unanimous decision win against Dan Hardy at UFC 111. He has won seven straight fights.
Montreal's Bell Centre has hosted three UFC shows (UFC 83, UFC 97 and UFC 113), but only one (UFC 83) has featured St-Pierre. That night in April 2008, St-Pierre unified the welterweight title by defeating champion Matt Serra by second-round TKO, avenging an earlier loss.
