EpiCentre Cage Fights IV Set For Friday, July 16
Five Fight Lab Titles Are On The Line In Uptown Charlotte
Charlotte, NC - Fight Lab Promotions roars back into action on Friday, July 16 in Charlotte, NC with EpiCentre Cage Fights IV. The event will showcase 11 exciting MMA match-ups and will take place at Charlotte's uptown entertainment hub, the Pavilion at EpiCentre. Charlotte MMA fans will be treated to five fights with championship implications.
Two highly anticipated bouts headline the card. The final fight of the night will be a battle between bantamweight titleholder Matthew Tran (6-0) and impressive contender Brantley Furr (3-1). Tran, who has yet to lose in his MMA career, is a catch wrestler from Easley, SC. The Team Huskey fighter has finished five of his six fights. He will have his hands full against contender Furr, a jiu-jitsu specialist who fights under the Black Belt USA banner in Charlotte.
Blaine Thomas (10-5) also defends his recently acquired welterweight title against Alex McDonald (3-1) in the co-main event. Thomas, now an MMA veteran at the ripe age of 20, has reeled off four victories in a row. Three of those wins came via submission. The Team Huskey fighter, who trains in Charlotte, faces a Fight Lab newcomer in Alex McDonald, who has fought for promotions in South Carolina. McDonald hails from Charleston, SC and represents the American Fighter team.
In other championship action, recently crowned light heavyweight titleholder Ben Perry (2-1) defends his belt against Brandon Beach (2-1). Also, two Fight Lab belts have recently been vacated, leaving them completely up for grabs at ECF IV. Kevin Forant (4-1-1) and Chris Smith (5-3) will tangle for the lightweight title, while Salah Hemidach (4-1) squares off against Christian Brunetti (3-0) to determine the king of the featherweights.
"We've got five titles up for grabs," said Fight Lab President Kenny Letts. "And when you look at our undercard, it's finishing up with Adam Dehart, Micah Lail, Zach Klouse, and Jeff Piercy. That gives you an idea of the kind of action we're putting on this card. The guys that we have on our undercard are typically headliners. We've just got a stacked event."
This will be Fight Lab's fourth event at the EpiCentre. The previous three events at the popular outdoor venue were highly successful, selling out each time. As usual, many of the fighters on the card hail from the greater Charlotte area, which allows MMA fans to see homegrown talent in quality match-ups.
Bell time is 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online through FightLabPros.com. General admission tickets are $30, while fans wanting to sit closer can purchase reserved seats for $45 and premium seats for $65.
Since their first event in March of 2009, Fight Lab has established itself as the premiere martial arts organization in the Southeast. Based out of Charlotte, the promotion has set an ambitious schedule for 2010, with EpiCentre Cage Fights V already scheduled for Oct. 14. Also planned is the Fight Lab Patriot Brawl on Sept. 11 in Charlotte, which will benefit Patriot Charities, a local non-profit organization that supports the military. That month Fight Lab will also return to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC to put on their second show for soldiers on Sept. 17.
