In the most potentially terrible news of the day, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has banned the famed vuvuzela from the MGM Grand Garden Arena for this weekend's "UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin."
"This decision was pretty simple for me," UFC president Dana White said. "Vuvuzelas make the most horrific sound I've ever heard. I'd rather let Brock punch me in the face than hear 15,000 people blow on those things. This is the biggest heavyweight fight we've ever done. We'll make enough noise this weekend when Brock and Shane finally step inside the Octagon."
I have to admit, this is a pretty suave move on the UFC's part. Taking advantage of the vuvuzela hype while the World Cup is still ongoing is wise. However, I have to say it would've been pretty hilarious if the vuvuzela had infiltrated the MGM come Saturday night. Is the UFC going to ban soccer chants next? Get your "ole" in now, folks.
