Spike TV made the annoucement that Kendall Grove vs. Goran Reljic and Brendan Schaub vs. Chris Tuchscherer will air on Spike TV prior to UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin. The UFC Prelims show as it was dubbed began at UFC 103 last year with the UFC and Spike TV agreeing to air a certain number of preliminary fights before certain PPV broadcasts. The UFC prelim shows average just over one million viewers per show and serve as solid lead in's to the PPV events.
Both Grove and Reljic are coming off losses in their respective fights at UFC 112 and UFC 110. Grove was in a war with Mark Munoz and had him in major trouble, only to be taken out in the second round. Reljic lost a unanimous decision to CB Dollaway after an extended absence from the sport due to a severe back injury that required surgery.
Brendan Schaub is coming off an impressive KO victory over Chase Gormley after being taken out by Roy Nelson in the finals of the TUF 10 Finale. Tuchscherer is coming off a decision win over Tim Hague at UFC 109.
