Alan Belcher made a lot of noise in an interview with Sherdog earlier this week, basically stating that he's disappointed in how the UFC has been steering his career. He wants fights that will take him towards a title shot. Well that wish has been granted as he'll take on the last title challenger and MMA For Real top ten middleweight Demian Maia at UFN 22 according to MMAFighting.com:
A middleweight match-up between Alan Belcher and Demian Maia has been verbally agreed to by both fighters for Ultimate Fight Night 22 on Sept. 15, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to the event.
Belcher is coming off an exciting win over Patrick Cote back at UFC 113, winning via submission in the second round. Whereas, Maia is coming off a pretty lopsided decision loss to Anderson Silva back at UFC 112.
I really like this fight. Can Maia get it to the ground a pull off the submission, or can Belcher keep it standing and punish Maia?
