|Quinton Jackson||Rashad Evans|
That's the word from Dana White as he sent a text message to radio host Dave Carmichael. White wasn't so sure at the UFC 113 post-fight press conference, but I suppose it's now a go. I honestly don't see who else would be given a title shot if not the winner of these two. Jackson and Evans will be featured on the third installment of UFC Primetime, so they'll be in front of a lot of eyeballs prior to this fight on May 29th at UFC 114. There are already built-in story-lines for Jackson as he comes back to claim what's his after taking a break from the sport to pursue an acting career. A win over Evans settles that grudge match and then his next fight would be a fight in which he would be out for revenge as Shogun Rua absolutely destroyed him many moons ago.
Evans is a former UFC champion as well who has a lot of questions surrounding him right now as he was barely able to survive and win against Thiago Silva at UFC 108. A win over Rampage Jackson would be a nice feather in his cap(even though it'll be a Rampage that's been out of action for quite a while). If Evans can get past Jackson, he could pose some problems for Rua with his takedown ability.
However, every hardcore fan out there will probably admit to wanting Rampage to win to set up this epic re-match from back in the day. It looks like the pollsters over at UFC.com believe that's going to happen from the above display.
FightersOnly says that Rampage Jackson is already in shape for this fight:
Just been down to see Rampage at the Wolfslair gym and I have to say, he is looking in good shape. I last saw him before Bisping left for Australia, and he was a bit of a big bear but its come right off, he is looking pretty damn lean. I've got some videos to put up later; Looking forward to this fight now, should be a good one."
