"I have three more fights on my contract. I don’t know how long I’m gonna stay fighting. I’m 36 years old. I’ve had a lot of changes over the last five years, but I still love to compete and I still love going to the gym," said the two-time welterweight champion. "As long as I still love to compete in the Octagon and as long as I still enjoy working out, I’ll still be here."
Hughes talks about continuing his career after defeating Renzo Gracie this weekend at UFC 112. It'll be interesting to see how Hughes is used for these three fights remaining on his contract. It's pretty clear that he's not a contender anymore. However, I do recall him stating that he's like to have a re-match with Thiago Alves. He stated that he took the fight on short notice, and Alves missing weight at UFC 85 were primary reasons why he lost that fight and he'd like to have a chance to avenge that loss. Alves is slated to face Jon Fitch at UFC 115, so if Alves lost, that would give Hughes a chance a redemption possibly. Btw, I still think Alves takes that one again. After looking at Hughes at UFC 112, do you think he could give any top ten welterweights any trouble nowadays?
