WEC 53 draws promotion's seventh-highest rating with 615K viewers

New, 3 comments reports on the ratings for World Extreme Cagefighting's final show, "WEC 53: Henderson vs. Pettis" which saw Anthony Pettis upset Ben Henderson to become the WEC lightweight champion and earn a shot at the UFC lightweight title.

With a pair of titles on the line in the final event in WEC history, "WEC 53: Henderson vs. Pettis" scored an impressive 0.62 household rating and an average audience of 615,000 viewers on Versus, ( confirmed with an industry source.

The ratings figure marks the third-straight WEC event to experience a gain in viewership, and WEC 53 finishes as the seventh-highest rated event in the promotion's history.

The show also saw Dominick Cruz become the first UFC bantamweight champion with his unanimous decision win over Scott Jorgensen.

The 615,000 viewers marks the second-highest number of the year for the WEC, trailing only the 640,000 viewers drawn by January's WEC 46, which featured Henderson, Jamie Varner and Urijah Faber.
