Jon Fitch (13-1 UFC) has been passed up for a title shot again, as he now is scheduled to face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126 in February, MMA Junkie reports.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that at least one fighter has agreed to the fight and that bout agreements are in the process of being finalized.

UFC 126 takes place Feb. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is expected to feature a middleweight title fight between reigning champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort.

Despite Dana White saying the UFC 117 bout between Fitch and Thiago Alves would be a welterweight title eliminator, that turned out not to be the case. Fitch only has one loss during his UFC tenure, a unanimous decision loss to champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 87. Since, Fitch has won five straight, all by unanimous decision.

The booking of this fight seems to indicate Jake Shields will receive the next welterweight title opportunity coming off his split decision win over Martin Kampmann at UFC 121.

St. Pierre will defend his title against Fitch's teammate Josh Koscheck next month at UFC 124.

Do you think Fitch deserved to be passed up because of his style? If he beats Ellenberger and Koscheck doesn't beat St. Pierre, do you have to give Fitch the next shot with six straight wins?
