Former WEC world title contender Leonard Garcia likely will mark the debut of featherweight fighters in the UFC when he faces Tyler Toner at "The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale" on Dec. 4 in Las Vegas, MMAWeekly.com reports.
The fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the situation on Saturday, with verbal agreements in place for the early December contest.
The news came just earlier this week that the WEC would merge with the UFC in 2011, and it looks like with a couple of cards left to go in 2010, the promotion will start to showcase a few featherweights and possibly some bantamweights before the year is out.
Garcia was one of the few fighters to drop from 155 pounds in the UFC to 145 pounds in the WEC. His 1-2 UFC tenure was most recognized for his UFC 69 fight with Roger Huerta. In the WEC, Garcia went 4-3-1 including a WEC 39 featherweight title fight where he was routed by Mike Brown. Garcia lost a split decision to Mark Hominick at WEC 51 last month.
Toner is 1-1 in the WEC and is coming off a decision loss to Diego Nunes at WEC 51.
