Ariel Helwani at Versus.com is reporting that Jose Aldo will defend his UFC featherweight championship in the co-main event of UFC 125 against Josh Grispi.
Grispi (14-1 overall, 4-0 WEC) will likely pull out of his Nov. 11 WEC 52 fight with Erik Koch.
Versus.com has learned that the organization is targeting a featherweight title fight between Aldo and top contender Josh Grispi. Contracts have been sent out to both camps.
Grispi was scheduled to fight at WEC 52 on Nov. 11, but if the fight goes through he will be of course pulled from the card to compete against Aldo for the title.
UFC 125 will be held Jan. 1 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
Helwani also is reporting that UFC officials have confirmed heavyweight Roy Nelson is now off the card entirely after opponent Shane Carwin was forced to bow out due to injury earlier this week.
