UFC 121 Results: Velasquez becomes first Mexican heavyweight champ with first-round TKO of Lesnar

It was billed as the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history. Saturday's UFC 121 battle between champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Cain Velasquez saw a new champion crowned.

Velasquez took advantage of a wild and tiring Lesnar, dropping the champion and forcing a stoppage late in the first round.

Lesnar immediately comes in and both men are going at it. it's a brawl. Flying knee from Lesnar. Velasquez connects and Lesnar takes him down. Velasquez stands back up but Lesnar stays on him with a single against the cage. Lesnar scoops Velasquez up and drops him down briefly. Both men trade again. Now Velasquez grabs a leg and takes Lesnar down. He's on his back with Lesnar on his knees. Lesnar stands up. Lesnar gets out of control and stumbles all across the Octagon and Velasquez makes him pay and drops him with a knee. Velasquez in side control. Huge shot by Velasquez. Lesnar spins around. Velasquez on top in half-guard. Lesnar not controlling posture at all. 1:20 to go. Lesnar stands but goes right back down. Lesnar turtling. He's bloodied and not defending and referee Herb Dean steps in and stops the fight.
