WEC Featherweight Josh Grispi Rehabbing From Ankle Surgery

New, 4 comments

From The Boston Herald:

"I couldn’t even walk before I fought Jens," Grispi said. "I was like, ’I can’t be fighting these guys with a bum ankle.’ There’s no point. You have to get to 100 percent. I’ve never fought any of my fights 100 percent. I don’t think anyone really does, but I’ve been pretty bad with my ankle."

Grispi has been out of action since defeating Jens Pulver at WEC 41 in June 2009.  Apparently Grispi injured his ankle in training two days before the Pulver fight, but still took the fight and as we know submitted Pulver in less than a minute.  Grispi had surgery on the ankle in September to repair torn tendons, damaged ligaments, calcium deposits, and a bone chip according to the report.  Grispi is a huge featherweight and at 21 years of age has a huge future in this sport.  It'll be interesting to see how he fits back into the mix once he's finished rehabbing the ankle as Grispi plans to return to action in June.
