The UFC veteran will make his Strikeforce debut when he meets Mike Kyle in a heavyweight bout at next week's show.
Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) Werdum (11-4-1) was off the card but later clarified there was still a chance he could fight. Now, Werdum's manager, Richard Wilner, said the Brazilian fighter has agreed to fight Kyle (12-6-1).
So I guess that takes Werdum out of the mix to be Fedor Emelianenko's first opponent in Strikeforce. Which leaves Brett Rogers and Alistair Overeem. I'd be putting my money on Roger's to take that fight unless Scott Coker can pull a rabbit out of his
butt hat and have Overeem defend his Strikeforce title. It's probably the most marketable fight out of the three. I have no idea why they have decided to match Werdum up against Mike Kyle.
