The news comes courtesy of the K-1 Legend blog. There's no confirmation as to if this will be a K-1 or MMA fight. This has to be frustrating for Strikeforce since Overeem has been their heavyweight champion since 2007, and he hasn't defended the belt even once. He was scheduled to compete on the last Strikeforce card against Fabricio Werdum, but had to withdraw from that fight due to an infection to an old injury sustained in a bar fight. By taking this fight in October, Overeem probably will not be available for Strikeforce until the end of the year provided he comes out of the fight unscathed. Scott Coker has gone on record saying that he would like to build up a potential Alistair Overeem/Fedor Emelianenko fight. So I don't know if that will ever happen with the way things are currently going.
