Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira talks with Tatame about his preparations to face Randy Couture at UFC 102:
I think Randy is going to want to strike; he’ll be confident in his hands, his boxing. I’m training a lot to surprise him standing. He may try ground and pound, but I believe my grappling is good enough to see me through. I think it’s a good fight for me, I’m going to be careful with the wrestling and be prepared to fight both standing and on the ground.
I’m 100% physically, well trained, dying to fight… I’m fine, feeling great. I trained a lot, worked on what I needed to. You’ll see the result after the fight.
I promise it will be a lively fight, lots of movement. I’m going for the finish the whole time. That’s what you want to see against Randy.
Well, Randy did say he thought his boxing was better than Nogueira's, so we just might see a boxing match of sorts. However, I can't help but think this fight will end up on the ground more times than not. I hope both guys are as healthy as possible, and it lives up to what it could have been a few years ago.
