WEC newcomer Takeya Mizugaki gives his thoughts on facing WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres in his hometown at WEC 40:
“Fighting in the WEC, fighting in the states, challenging the champion at his hometown, it’s an ultimate ‘away’ fight,” Mizugaki said through manager/translator Shu Hirata. “I am expecting huge booing from the fans, and on top of that, it’s going to be a five-rounder. Everything about this fight is ‘first time’ for me so I am really looking forward to it.
“I am just going to look for a knockout just like I did in all my past fights. I want to strike.”
Mizugaki is replacing Torres's original opponent in Brian Bowles. Mizugaki is a Shooto and Cage Force veteran that hasn't lost a fight since February 2007, going 5-0 since then. If he comes to fight like he talks, then we could have another Miguel Torres/Yoshiro Maeda on our hands. WEC 40 will take place on April 5th, and will air on LIVE on the Versus channel.
