WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson Quick Results

New, 7 comments

WEC 43 was a ridiculous event!  We got treated to a great night of fights and one of the best fights in WEC history between Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson.  It was an extremely close fight in which I thought Cerrone did enough to win, but the judges gave it to Ben Henderson.  Henderson is now the WEC Interim lightweight champion and will face WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner potentially in December.  Henderson was able to survive countless submission attempts in the first round to score some points of his own.  Henderson dominated round two, but the tide began to turn in the 3rd round as Cerrone's takedown defense began to show up.  Cerrone definitely won the fourth round, and then the fifth round was up for grabs.  In the fifth round, Cerrone again went for countless submission attempts including a very deep armbar, but somehow Henderson avoided tapping to the hold.  A classic fight and I'm sure we'll get to see a re-match in the future.  Full results can be found after the jump.
