Can Denis Kang Be A Factor In The UFC MW Division?

New, 3 comments

Just a little over 2 years ago Denis Kang was a sure fire top ten middleweight. Denis "The Streak" Kang started his career with a subpar 7-7 record(by MMA standards), then reeled off 21 straight wins before his next defeat. I call him "The Streak" because throughout his career that's exactly how his wins and losses have accumulated. Kang has 10 career losses. He has suffered back to back losses 3 separate times, and lost 3 in a row on one occasion although most of these losses were early in his career. Currently, Kang is on a two fight winning streak albeit not exactly against top competition. However, he has finished both of those opponent inside of two minutes winning by KO/TKO. Which is exactly what a fighter of his caliber should be doing to those type of opponents.

Kang is scheduled to make his UFC debut next week at UFC 93 against Alan Belcher. Kang is the more well rounded fighter and should be the favorite to win the fight. If Kang comes into the fight and finishes Belcher impressively, should the UFC MW division be on notice? As I mentioned before, Kang is a very streaky fighter. Could a win like give his confidence a boost for him to go on a run and eventually meet up with Anderson Silva? Give me your thoughts.
