According to MMAWeekly Frankie Edgar has been forced to pull out of a scheduled bout against TUF alum Matt Wiman. Jim Miller will be replacing Edgar on one weeks notice and should be on the televised portion of the 3 hour broadcast on Spike TV.
Big props for Miller stepping up to the plate and taking this fight under the circumstances. Miller is 1-0 inside the Octagon after previously fighting for the now defunct IFL promotion. Wiman is on a 4 fight winning streak with his last victory coming against Thiago Tavares at UFC 85.
Please remember that this event will raise funds to build a hospital to help treat traumatic brain injuries suffered by soldiers in the United States Armed Forces. More information about the facility, including ways to donate can be found online at www.fallenheroesfund.org or by calling 1-800-340-HERO. I reside in North Carolina just 40 minutes from Ft. Bragg/Fayetteville where the event will take place. Be sure to do your part in supporting this effort if you can in any way, it's for a great cause. Who knows, if this event does well maybe the UFC will plan another event here in the very near future?
