I scored the main event 47-47. I had Maynard winning the first round 10-8, then winning the third 10-9. I had Edgar winning the second, fourth and fifth rounds 10-9.
Without a doubt one of the best UFC title fights ever.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Well
I was pretty buzzed by the time the main event came around so I wasn’t even sure how to score it, but while just about everyone at the Buffalo Wild Wings (my first time seeing a UFC show at the favorite hotspot of Matt and Neil) HATED the result, I can’t really argue with the draw, as it was that damn close.
I’m surprised to see that Matt would be on the show tonight. Not just because his boy didn’t win the title, but rather because of how his school did today… hell, the whole conference got a clownsuit put on them (to quote Forrest) but that Capital One Bowl was a real “getting your pants pulled down” game.
Love that B-dubs
What’d you get?

If you mean what I got at BWW, I ate some boneless buffalo wings and I drank some tall glass beers. I’m continuing the party at home with a screwdriver, but at BWW I only had beers. One of them was free due to the nice gentleman sitting next to me, which was appreciated by me.
I had a plate of nachos and a root beer, my Dad had a hamburger and a coke. $19, not including the tip. Casino food, ain’t it grand?
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Sure
I’ve had casino food before, and for its cost it’s good. Of course there are other ways for those joints to make money, but it’s not a bad deal.

Yeah, the boneless wings are mighty tasty
Probably a good idea to stay with the beers though, their other drinks are a little pricey unless you’ve got Coke on tap.

Oh Man
I hope that Forrest shows up for this show, if only to hear his commentary on Big Ten football today. I’m not burying on Bishop here. I mean, I grew up in Big Ten country (Illinois), but that was TRBL on their part today.
Yeah
I’d agree. I have to laugh at the end of the first round and Silva getting all up in Vera’s grill and Vera getting MAD about it and Steve M. having to break it up.

FWIW, Jordan Breen scored the second round of Kim-Diaz for Diaz, which is insane.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Well
I don’t think that Breen is as infallible as most other people do. Some of his opinions are just flat-out stupid, and I’m not talking about his love of 10-10 and 10-8 rounds. I’m more talking about his near-constant douchebag attitude, his awful humor, and to give a specific example, his justification of Kim Winslow in that Cyborg vs. Jan Finney fight. That reeked of contrarian garbage to me.

LOL
I agree with that Wikipedia edit. At the time I saw the third round, “bitchslip” was the term that I thought of to describe Silva’s strikes.
by Blair Russell on Jan 2, 2011 2:09 AM EST up reply actions
Or
“Bitchslap”, even. I blame the booze on using the term “bitchslip”. I don’t even know what a “bitchslip” is.
by Blair Russell on Jan 2, 2011 2:12 AM EST up reply actions
Agreed
Aside from people being PISSED about the main event decision, the biggest reaction of the entire show from the BWW crowd was the sight of Brandon Vera’s crooked nose, and then laughter at seeing that it came from Silva’s wild swings… and then Thiago playing bongos on his back seconds later.

Ha
Bishop, are your dogs like Bryan Alvarez’s cats?
Actually, I shouldn’t say that. I mean, I shouldn’t even bring up that subject here! I’ve finally gotten to the point where Bryan talking about his two cats has become fast forward material. As that one guy said on the Christmas Show, Bryan talks about his felines as if he’s the only guy on Earth who has a pair of cats!
OK
That’s good.
On topic, I also think that Gray needs an immediate rematch. I mean, it’s a draw. There should be a rematch to settle the dispute.

What’s more annoying, Clay Guida bouncing around like he’s in a disco, or Gomi just standing there and looking at him with a confused look on his face?
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Tough Call
I usually don’t get annoyed at Clay, but that fight was irritating. Guida just bounced around and didn’t do much. Sure, Clay lived about 50 miles from the town that I was born in in the state of Illinois, but that fight didn’t light my world on fire, to say the least.

I’m tired of “judging talk” myself. Along with talk on F4W about Strikeforce’s business model.
Oh, poor Randy.

What’s Randy going to do? Push him into the fence and stall for 15 minutes?

Well..
What else is he going to do?

In the casino I was in, people were losing their minds for the UFC 126 trailer. I think that’s going to do BIG business.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
The crowd I was with, people were at least looking forward to Silva vs. Belfort. In fact, one newbie there was asking if that match was the main event here, and then was told it wasn’t. I’m sure that card will do better business than the show tonight, at least with people in town going to bars to see the show.

People seemed pumped for Silva vs. Belfort and Forrest vs. Franklin. Lotta chatter about those two fights.
Also, when they showed the replay of the Anthony Pettis kick, people lost their minds. I think Edgar vs. Pettis will do pretty good as well.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
How about Stann vs. Akiyama or Stann vs. Belcher?
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Well Hey
I suddenly remember that the first moment of the third round, Vera knocked down Silva… and Brandon celebrated as if it was a K-1 bout and he just won the fight! That was laughable.
On Brandon Vera’s wikipedia page, someone wrote his loss to Silva as a “submission (bongo strikes on back)” haha

BTW, Snowden implored people to flood Dana’s Twitter and ask for a Maynard vs. Edgar 3. So there you go.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Well
That’s Snowden, and he’s a professional troll! He’s a total attention whore.

Ugh
I was hoping he’d be inundated by people asking to NOT have Maynard vs Edgar 3.

BWW
I can tell you that even random drunks in the men’s room at the Buffalo Wild Wings in town think that Nate didn’t look good and looked flabby at 170 and he is better being at 155. When random drunks taking a leak in a Buffalo Wild Wings notice this…
Ha
At Neil saying “Wocka Wocka” as if he’s Fozzy Bear.
And then I am laughing at the spoofing of Meltzer. Dave Meltzer is great and all, but he IS easy to make fun of.
Paulo Thiago is fighting Diego Sanchez at UFC on Versus 3.

Hey
Wiki says that Sanchez is fighting Martin Kampmann at UFC on Versus 3.

GREAT show tonight guys. The last two shows have been fantastic.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Kyotaro, making me MAD
That guy squandered what should have been an easy win, but instead decided not to train and come in, despite being one of the best heavyweights K-1 has right now, and get punked by Mousasi. Way to go buddy.
Big ups to Kazuhisa Watanabe though, because that man wiggling his way out of about EIGHTY armbar attempts just made me smile time after time. Tokoro isn’t exactly the greatest, but he’s good enough to get a scrub with no real experience out of the fight early, and Watanabe survived a LOT longer than he should have.

Kyotaro thought he was there for an easy win, and got plunked for it. Dude went life and death with Semmy Schilt, but got styled on my Mousasi? C’mon man.
And Watanabe is double tough, no doubt about it. I loved how he just grit his teeth and survived like 2000 submission attempts.
