James Toney on Vitor Belfort's boxing challenge: 'Let's make it happen'

Well, James Toney is back in the news.

A little more than a week after his first round submission loss to Randy Couture in his MMA debut, Toney has accepted Vitor Belfort's challenge to meet him in a boxing ring.

This is what Toney told FightHype (via ProMMANow) about Belfort's challenge.

"Tell Vitor Belfort let's make it happen. I like that because he ain't no scared little bitch. He wants to come to my world and I'm more than willing to welcome him into my world."

Belfort, of course, is slated to fight Yushin Okami in a middleweight title eliminator at UFC 122 in November. The chances of this actually happening while Belfort's in the UFC are slim and none and slim's on the way out the door, but it makes for interesting discussion.

Who would win this fight? Belfort's known in MMA circles for his hands, obviously. Would he be able to out-quick the bloating IBA heavyweight champion? Like Toney's MMA debut, if Belfort were to enter the boxing ring again, it would likely bring with it a significant amount of chatter. Would it be "Lights Out" for "The Phenom?"

Let’s not…

"I don't care, hit him with your groin!"

What would happen?

James Toney would absolutely dominate Vitor Belfort and win a 12 round decision at the very worst (where he took every round).

I think you may be giving Vitor way too much credit there. I think Toney's worst performance

possible is a KO/TKO in about every scenario. But yeah, wont be good for Vitor I agree.

Thats what I took your meaning to be, I just thought

even that was asking alot out of Vitor, I couldnt see Vitor making out of the 6th on Toney’s worst day, but hell I have been wrong before, and it seems we agree, fighting Toney is about the worst decision in a career full of really bad decisions Vitor could make.
