Josh Koscheck responds to Yves Lavigne's comments
UPDATE: Yves Lavigne is denying that he gave the interview in question and it has been pulled from the canoe.com web site. See more at BloodyElbow.com
UFC welterweight contender Josh Koscheck responded to referee Yves Lavigne's comments that UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will "dominate" when the two meet for the title in December.
From Koscheck's official Website.
"UFC referee, Yves Lavigne is clearly not suited to be a referee after his rant of personal attacks and opinions on me as a fighter. It's supposed to be his job to look at a fight unbiased, but how can anyone trust this guy to fairly referee any fight ever again after his comments? It's scary to think this guy has been calling fights in the octagon for this long. It's very fair to say Mr. Lavigne will never ref one of my fights again. I would never put all my hard work as a fighter or my livelihood in the hands of this ref.
The (UFC) and the commission would be irresponsible to let him continue his job- any call this guy makes would have to be questioned. You call MMA a professional sport? Well, professional starts at the top. Never would an NFL, NBA or other major sports official state there personal opinions publicly about a player and keep their job. I now question every call Yves has ever made as a referee. Hopefully no fighter ever has to step into a fight with Yves Lavigne as referee. Better get that resume ready Lavigne....."

Someone call a waaaahmbulance.
Lavigne points out Koscheck didn’t want to trade with Daley (which he didn’t) and Koscheck wants him banned.
Koscheck tries to cheat (twice!) by claiming someone hit him illegally in the head while down, and trashtalks Daley right off the UFC roster, and he’s shrugs it off as whatever.
Crybaby Kos.
Koscheck eats it.
AJ DID poke him in the eye
If you watched the fight, you’d see that.
And Daley did try to knee him on the ground.

And I once hit on Ione Skye.
Do I get to claim I had sex with her?
I don’t care if Daley came at Koscheck with a poleaxe. If he missed, there’s no reason to roll around on the floor and try to cheat a win.
Koscheck eats it.
I disagree with them as well...
But I don’t jump on top of my high horse and distinguish who is an MMA fan and who isen’t based on their opinions of Josh Koscheck. Chill dude we all enjoy watching the same sport.

I certainly understand the repercussions of what Yves said
But Kos going on that little tirade isn’t any better. This dude goes out and posts some bit about how Lavigne won’t be officiating his bout (when he’s probably the best man for the job, considering who is up there), or officiating any of his bouts in the future is foolhardy at best. Koscheck has practically no control over who presides over his fights, and at best can make reccomendations.
What I think is most funny is that neither he, nor anyone else felt it important to validate what Lavigne said. I mean, I could post a fanpost or whatever up here about an interview that I may or may not have had with someone, and if it gets promoted properly then someone else picks up on it and BOOM, look at all this crazy stuff interviewee said. I’ve never heard Lavigne, or any other ref talk about things in such a way, and there’s a good reason for it.

Yves was out of line saying that stuff publicly but the guy is only human and i’m positive he isn’t the only ref who is a fan as well. It doesn’t mean he can’t be impartial inside the cage, lots of people can separate personal opinions from professional responsibility. Besides it is all on camera so if he is suspected of bias just drag him before a review board and crucify him.

It looks like Yves didn’t make the comments at all according to him. Lawyers getting involved
