Latest on UFC 119 headliner Mirko Cro Cop
Dave Meltzer over at the Wrestling Observer has the latest on Mirko Cro Cop's situation, in which he suffered an eye injury prior to his UFC 119 main event fight with Frank Mir.
Regarding Mirko Cro Cop, he was poked in the eye a few days ago in sparring and has blood in his eye, which looks bad. (UFC president Dana White) said Cro Cop contacted the company immediately, and said his opthamologist cleared him for Saturday night's UFC 119 main event with Frank Mir.
He also said Cro Cop's doctor sent X-rays to the UFC showing no breaks and the doctors in Las Vegas who looked at the X-rays also felt Cro Cop would be able to fight, but White said as soon as Cro Cop lands in Indianapolis, he's going to be given a battery of eye tests.
It'll be interesting to see what happens if Cro Cop cannot pass this "battery of eye tests" in Indianapolis. Would the fight be scrapped entirely or has the UFC been working on a backup plan ever since learning of the injury? In my opinion, a likely scenario could be pulling one of the four heavyweights on the card up, Matt Mitrione, Joey Beltran, Mark Hunt or Sean McCorkle

Wow, I gotta think they take it off PPV if Cro Cop can’t fight

At least Rashad’s last match was him as defending champion and had TUF 10 recently. This will be a devalued Frank Mir vs… Some fat guy they can throw in there with him? If Cro Cop is out, Mark Hunt might legitimately be their best option

Take it off PPV?
Not gonna happen. A week isn’t enough notice to get it on Spike, or anywhere else, and eve if they could it isn’t like they’d be able to get out of their PPV contracts.

I really don’t see him failing any tests but if something did go wrong i’m sure the UFC already has someone lined up possibly Couture since he’s in fighting shape.
