Via Strikeforce press release:

NEW YORK (Sept. 15, 2010) - Top-10 world-ranked welterweight, Paul Daley, has signed a multi-fight deal with world championship Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion STRIKEFORCE.

The 5-foot-9, 27-year-old native of London who fights out of Nottingham, England, has won two straight and six of his last seven. Overall, the cocky, brash seven-year pro is 25-9-2.

Nicknamed "Semtex" after an explosive that British armed forces use to demolish large structures, Daley is coming off a unanimous three-round decision over recent STRIKEFORCE signee, Jorge Masvidal, last Saturday, Sept. 11. It was the first time since July 1, 2006, that Daley had won a fight on points.

Daley is a freelance mixed martial artist whose style is an aggressive mix of striking, striking and more striking.
"I am a striker - there is no secret about that,'' the exciting British bomber said. "I like to knock people out aggressively and quickly. That's my game and no opponent's going to change that. Almost all my fights are exciting and memorable with non-stop action.''

Who would you like to see Daley matched up with in his first Strikeforce fight? Cyborg Santos? Further in the press release, Daley says he'd like to fight reigning Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, who fights KJ Noons on Oct. 9.

If not him some other wrestler.

Negative

Fought the last fight on his contract against Riggs back in January, and was officially “released” a month or two ago.

Last I heard

he still wasn’t officially released due to a ‘negotiation period’….

I’m pretty sure it was a 6 month negotiation period and it expired sometime in june or july.

That explains it

Although I’d like someone to explain to me why he’d sign a contract with such a retardedly long negotiation period.

While I respect Daley's passion for striking . . .

please drill how to stop a takedown at least 4-5 times through out the week? Learning something new never hurts.

Solid addition

I think this is a great move on SF’s part. Daley is a beast WW who will do well in that division there. Good name, good talent, can’t wait to watch. Glad they picked him up.

The only interesting fights for Daley in SF are Diaz and Noons, after he loses both of those fights, then what?

Well, I think you can say the same for the whole WW division

But hey, I’m sure that there’s a 170’r on the UFC roster that’s going to get canned pretty soon.

we get to watch diaz pick apart daley in striking match. the diaz brothers tend to always strike first before going to their bjj.

i just like watching both diaz brothers get better. they are two of the most entertaining guys out there and nate is catching up with nick in the striking part of mma. he just needs to add body shots like his brother does. he could have put down davis faster if he implemented body shots like his brother uses.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. The most hated and misunderstood person on the MMA blogs.. Utah and Boise take care of business in week one. Don't be surprised if they both go undefeated.
