I think the dispute wasn’t over whether or not Sonnen tapped, it was that Anderson started cranking on Chael’s arm after the ref stepped in to stop the fight.

The Main Event
Well, I just got back moments ago from the local sports bar in town, where I watched the show. I’d like to utter a bunch of strong curse words concerning the main event.
You see, while I didn’t mention it here (and I should have, but I was scurred that I’d be accused of making the dumbest statement in the history of mmaforreal.com), I did mention on Facebook and Twitter that I predicted THE AMERICAN HERO CHAEL SONNEN would win the bout, and even to my shock, for about 4 rounds and 3 minutes I was looking like a prophet and a true genius. Then, the ending happened… and I am PISSED it happened, as I really wanted Chael to win, believe me.
Still, the fight was AWESOME, at least where I saw it at. Most of the people there wanted Silva to win but as the fight went on, the Sonnen fans became louder and louder as it looked like a colossal upset would happen. Then, the ending happened… and the crowd there went monkeyshit crazy. I swear, most of the people there celebrated as if their local baseball team hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th in the 7th game of the World Series. It was pandemonium there, and while I’m still stunned beyond belief at the end result, that fight was so great it’s erection-worthy and while I’m not a fan of rematches, I’d punch my grandmother in the mouth to see an immediate rematch, and I will give Silva a shitload of credit for doing the impossible and getting the win.
Is Lindsy Lohan trending??
Hmmmm…

The funny part
was that Sonnen tapped….Silva loosened the hold…and Sonnen tried to go back to fighting like he ain’t tap…or he hoped Rosenthal didn’t see the tap…he looked up at Rosenthal like “what…why you stopping it”…LMAO.

Does this make the GSP vs. Anderson fight more appealing? I think so

If people still think GSP gets murdered by Anderson Silva after seeing what Sonnen did to him, they don’t think very highly of GSP.

Ha
Speaking of UFC 1 and goofy gimmicks, I saw parts of Bloodsport for the first time today. What a goofy yet entertaining movie about a proto-MMA competition, where Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds played a great MMA fighter!

Big Country vs. Cigano
Well, as seemingly everyone else thinks (at least with Bryan Alvarez), people were more impressed with Nelson than dos Santos. I mean “seemingly everyone” in terms of the loudmouth MMA “expert” who sat right by me at the bar and gave running commentary for the entire show (which got pretty old after awhile, as he wasn’t as smart as he thought he was), the crowd enjoying Big Country and how he lasted, and even with me, I was hoping that he’d win after a great first round, and despite Roy being blown up in rounds 2 and 3, he wasn’t finished, and I was hoping that Junior would finish him.
Still, maybe I’m totally TRBL and I was in a bad atmosphere, as it appears that most people did enjoy Junior’s performance for the entire fight so maybe my opinion on the fight should be ignored.
By the way, given the examples given for this fight, maybe that loudmouth I sat by DID give better commentary for the show than Joe and Mike did; I totally did not hear the “20 sweaters” line.
JDS Doesn’t have one shot, killing power tho

"I have to carry out another fine moment before I die."

True
I will at least agree with the fact that Roy managed to look pretty bad in the fight, tough chin and all. Cigano was able to stop just about all of his takedown attempts and that’s why most of the fight was on the fight, which was trouble for Big Country.
I’m still in disbelief that Almedia was the huge favorite going into this fight.

Everyone and their brother picked Almedia. I couldn’t believe it. Like Hughes was going to have trouble with a guy who couldn’t get it done against Patrick Cote?

Well
Matt Hughes is great and all, but he DID look rather bad against Gracie. Sure, that fight in general was T-R-B-L, but Matt looked bad there. Maybe that was why people didn’t give him much of a chance against Ricardo, despite the fact that Hughes has a deserved legend status.

Hughes vs. Almeida
Well, most of the fight wasn’t too exciting. At least the loudmouth by me mentioned how neither guy wanted to go to the ground as they feared each other’s ability. I have no idea how Ricardo got choked out from that move, but oh well. It was at least something unique.
But yeah, his performance… I’ll sum it up by saying, “Awww, TRBL! T-R-B-L, TRBL!” That’s a Frank Caliendo as Charles Barkley quote. I usually can’t stand Frank, but his Sir Charles impressions are amusing. I got the quote from a YouTube video called “That’s just TRBL”, which was Frank and another dude impersonating Charles and Shaquille O’Neal on that Fox NFL pre-show. That quote it so great I wouldn’t mind hearing it as a soundbite, as it’s funny and it could be used often.
Hughes needs to beat up Hallman, then ride off into the sunset.

Ha
Yep, I wouldn’t mind a “pants on the ground” drop either. I always laugh when something related to “having your pants pulled down” is mentioned (I swear, it’s not as homoerotic as it may sound!), even though I’ve only heard a tiny bit of the actual song from American Idol.
Hmmm
Who sings this version of Hang On Sloopy? It sure as shit isn’t from Rick Derringer or The McCoys! Then again, I’m surprised that Bishop would play it, given that it’s the unofficial state song for Ohio, and even I know how people from Michigan (no matter the school they go to) hate people from Ohio, and vice versa.
I like Ohio State. I’ve covered many MSU games there and it’s very festive. I like when the band plays that.
OK then
Understandable. I’m not surprised that you’d root for Ohio State, as an enemy of your enemy…

Forrest, how can you defend Anderson Silva’s actions in the Maia fight, yet hate on Jon Fitch? Neither are entertaining, but they aren’t against the rules, and they both are effective fighting techniques for those fighters.

Fitch vs. Alves
Sigh… I should’ve known that Thiago was going to lose after he had those weight-cutting problems and didn’t look all that healthy at the weigh-ins.
As for the fight itself… online, all of my Twitter friends who were watching the show thought that Fitch was boring! No kidding. Everyone who saw the fight he had at UFC 111 (the first UFC event shown at movie theatres) at the theatre I was at was bored/hated his performance, with even a random person yelling out that he hated Jon. Then, tonight the crowd died during that fight. There were no cat-calls but it was clear that everyone was bored by the fight, mad at how TRBL Alves was, and it was a piss-break bout… even though I’ll agree with EVeezy (something that doesn’t always happen) in that at least Jon was a LITTLE more aggressive than usual and he tried (but still failed) to get some submissions, but that’s definitely damning with faint praise.
So Alves… your performance has me saying, "Awww, TRBL! T-R-B-L, TRBL!"
LOL
Yep Bishop, I’ll agree that the bout was “number 2”.
Yes, I did notice the almost knee strike to the head too. In fact, people at the bar noticed it too and more than one person clarified that only knee strikes to the body are OK. At least the crowd there has SOME sort of knowledge of MMA, even if I think that many of them don’t know as much as they think they do.
I wanted him to throw it

Dana backtracked on the title fight for Fitch vs Alves during an interview yesterday. Wouldn’t be the first time they did this- remember Henderson vs Bisping and Marquardt vs Maia.

Speaking of Elite XC Joe Rogan threw a bomb at them in the telecast
"I have to carry out another fine moment before I die."
-Tatsuya Kawajiri-
He Did?
What did he say?
Again, I had running commentary from an alleged expert right by me, so I didn’t hear much of the commentary, which I understand is a good thing.
At least I did get chortles out of UFC pointing out that bedsheet sign where fans are saying that they want UFC in San Jose. You know they showed that as a middle finger towards Strikeforce.

Guida vs. Dos Anjos
Well, that fight was what I expected. Guida was Guida. People were happy to see him fight, as hey, it’s hard to hate a goofy guy like him who’s full of energy. Even I can’t hate him.
Then again, it seemed like the general consensus at the bar was that the fight was 1-1. No kidding.
By the way, in terms of crowd pops and finishes, it was…
1. the main event by far.
2. Hughes. Really, people went crazy for that. I don’t know if it was because they were longtime fans who knew him or if they liked the sudden finish, but that got a big reaction.
3. Guida. People were happy to see him win, despite the odd finish.
Great unintentional comedy in the Struve vs Morecraft fight. Love the tat on Morecraft
"I have to carry out another fine moment before I die."

Yep
I will admit that the stomach tattoo was T-R-B-L, as I think that all stomach tattoos are T-R-B-L, but the one that World of Morecraft had was particularly awful.

World of Morecraft
Yep, I stole it from Sherdog. That is Berman-esque, but it still makes me laugh.
Yeah, Struve was a major dork in the post-fight, but I can’t hate as he somehow managed to win.
As for the fight, I don’t know if I’d call it 10-8, despite how Stefan looked pretty bad and got dominated, as he at least fought back and came close to some submission attempts. Maybe I’m stupid and my judging is as bad as Cecil Peoples, but oh well. At least he won, despite having a split lip that was almost as bad as the one Matt Hamill had in that one fight.
WOW

Drops
Oh, I’d love for people to make F4W-style drops for this show… but I’d just enjoy hearing a “Best of Light Out Radio” show which is more of a “Funniest Moments In Lights Out Radio History” show. Someone needs to spend many hours going through all the show and picking out all the roastings, bizarre comments, bad predictions, and whatnot. I know I’ll never forget Neil saying that Randy Couture was “pushing 40” or him recently saying that “Brock Lesnar was going down on Shane Carwin” and then said, “Laying a pounding”; both of which caused Bishop to giggle uncontrollably for like a minute straight. Someone needs to compile all great moments like this into one file, even if it’s many hours long.
Anyway, this show was great (as usual) and the UFC show was a lot of fun, if only for the main event and how everyone reacted to it.
