According to MMAJunkie
Diaz is going to fight at an event planned for Oct. 9 currently dubbed "Strikeforce: San Jose." But he will compete welterweight, and Miller is not his opponent.
Instead, recent winner K.J. Noons, who defeated Diaz nearly three years ago for the EliteXC lightweight title, is expected to get a shot at belt.
UPDATE by Matt Bishop [8/25/10 at 1:13 p.m. ET]: It's official via a Strikeforce press release and they have offered some quotes.
"Nick has no class, he’s a bum, a piece of (expletive) and he and his team disrespected my family and I with their gestures and trash talk and tried to upstage my fight,’’ said Noons after the near-fracas (in 2008).
Offered Diaz: "I’m sorry about what happened in the cage afterward, but I didn’t start it. His guys were talking (expletive) to us.’’

I mean, I love the fight
but everyone and their mother wanted Diaz/Mayhem. The only redeeming thing would be if they can miraculously score another CBS show.
"I talked about retirement a little bit, but told them I'd be the same ol' grumpy, pissed off guy." --Bobby Cox
Don't worry...
Judging by the pace of getting this “grudge match” I’m sure we can expect Diaz/Miller in June 2012.
…but I didn’t start it. His guys were talking (expletive) to us.
Does this sound like anyone to something that a child would say? “Suzzie started it!” What a great guy.
Although I’m sure the fight will make them some money (and by make money I mean get a couple extra thousand people to watch), I still think it was a poor business decision on the part of Strikeforce to bank on Noons winning on Saturday to stick him in a quick-turnaround match. I don’t think that Gurgel was going to beat him, but the potential of a cut, or a broken hand or something isn’t exactly unheard of.
You know what's really fun? Not being a raving lunatic. Give it a try some time, you might just like it!
