Strikeforce: Houston Results: Griggs upsets Lashley

Chad Griggs came into the biggest fight of his career against Bobby Lashley at "Strikeforce: Houston" looking to prove he was just more than a "live body."

Despite being positionally dominated by Lashley, Griggs cut Lashley in the first round with an uppercut and took advantage when Lashley got tired in the second round, forcing the referee to call a halt to the contest at the end of the second round.

Lashley gets a takedown 10 seconds in. He quickly passes to side control. Griggs looking to push off the cage, but Anthony Pettis he is not. Lashley looking to trap an arm while Griggs looks to keep him close. Griggs looking to scramble but Lashley is having none of it. Lashley not doing much and Griggs scrambles to his feet. Lashley, though, is persistent and takes him right back to the ground. Griggs gets out again. He delivers a knee to the midsection. Lashley pushes him against the cage. Lashley with some inside body shots and they are broken up. Griggs times an uppercut well as Lashley shoots in. Lashley is bleeding now as he's on top. Lots of blood as the round comes to an end. Lashley just hanging on from the top. The cut is to the lower side of the left eye and it is not good.

Lashley starts round two with a big slam into side control. Lashley working a little bit of ground-and-pound but isn't doing much until he passes to side control. Lashley not looking to pass from here and as I say that, he mounts Griggs. Lashley delivering the most punishment he has all night. Griggs tries to push off the cage again but it doesn't work again. Griggs trying to punch back from the bottom. Lashley slowing down now as one minute remains in the round . And now referee Jon Schorle is standing them up from the mount. Lashley is tired and Schorle brings in the doctor to check on the cut on the eye. Griggs has confidence now. Griggs stuffs a takedown and is delivering hard shots. Griggs pounding away on Lashley as Lashley holds onto a leg. The bell potentially saves Lashley.

Lashley isn't getting off his knee and Schorle takes a look and stops the fight.
