Chael vs Anderson
Chael could have danced the 5th round of the fight, he could have ran around, made a mockery of the sport, he had utterly dominated the first 4 frames...he did everything he said he would for the build-up to the fight.....he could have done all the stuff Anderson did in his previous 3 fights, barely engaging to downright running to acting like a clown and slapping the mat like Demian wasn't trying to make a fight...he could have pretended like in the Leites fight....but instead Chael went out and took it to Anderson again.
But Chael went after it again in the 5th round and he got caught. I don't honestly care to ever see Anderson fight again. This fight was only great b/c Chael made it so. Anderson lost me as a fan long ago, will not regain me as a fan. Chael, I'll watch the guy fight on any show, anywhere.
That's pretty much it.

So
Silva absorbing everything Sonnen had…overcoming adversity and winning didn’t impress you?

yeah pretty much
he on due to Chael being over aggressive and sloppy. I never bought in to losing the fight and winning the war. Good for him that he can throw up a hail mary submission after taking a hiding, but, I’ll save my praise for someone like a GSP who takes no punishment but instead dishes it out…I might hate to watch it sometimes but I admire what it is for being so complete!

I think you've got a good position in general here,
but it sure seems to me like there are quite a few examples of Hail Mary submissions. Just like there are examples of Hail Mary KO’s.
Still, if someone tries to say that a hack who never works on the mat can pull a submission on a talented fighter who is taking it to them, then that person doesn’t understand how hard it is to hit a submission on someone who is actively trying to avoid it.

thats like me saying that every fight Anderson fought and won he overcame adversity. It’s a fight. The very nature of what his opponent is trying to do is adverse. Its not like its a new concept…
He got lucky. His prayers were answered. Hailmary sub ftw. Glad i amuse you… for a second i thought i was having a serious conversation…

Anderson catching him after losing the vast majority of nearly 25 min’s of fighting….only happened b/c Chael actually looks to finish….unlike Anderson in the previous 3 fights.
it’s not even really my opinion…people were ONLY hyped about this fight b/c Chael talked it up….how you go from being the P4P fighter in the world to tons of people not even caring if you fight, and your boss refusing to put the strap on your waist….what a princess. Anderson can’t handle the pressure of being great. ie: his skills may be great, but he only looked decent in a round and a half of that fight, if at all. against Cote? Leites? Maia?
Please. no one wants to give Chael his credit for doing exactly what he said he would. People just want to go back to liking Silva and forget his atrocious PPV fights that were a mockery of the sport.

"Got caught?"
Chael’s last five losses have been by triangle or armbar. He’s a beast though, and he definately beasted on Anderson for four and a half rounds.

Chael is far from perfect.
In fact, it’s debatable whether or not he belongs in the ‘best fighter in his own division’ discussion due to the massive, gaping hole that people consistently exploit in his arsenal. He’s certainly not the most well-rounded, but he might be the most dominating in any head-to-head match-up you can put together. Not sure what that means, exactly, but there it is.

go sherdog Chael’s record: he’s been subbed by DAMIAN MAI, Jeremy Horn 2x, PAULO FILHO, and Babalu….among others. i’m pretty sure a ton of other dudes in different places have had similar fates.
he’s aggressive and he gets caught. i dont’ care, it beast watching GSP dryhump dan Hardy for 5 rounds b/c he admits he’ll take the safe way out. looking to finish is what i like about this sport, rather than dancing to a 12 round decision in boxing.

Oh don't get it twisted
Sonnen might look to finish…but he rarely does…in fact…he has never finished anyone in the UFC…..24 wins with 14 by decision…..GSP on the other hand….who has basically fought his entire career in the UFC….has 20 wins with 13 finishes…and the quality of competition in regards to each fighters weight class isn’t even close. The majority of Chael’s wins are against mediocre fighters….

and
GSP finishes are inversely proportional to how long he’s held the title ;)

GSP
dude has DOMINATED every opponent since he’s been in the UFC…minus the two losses he has avenged.

did i dispute that?
i thought my point was fairly clear cut and not requiring elaboration :)

it still beats Fitch and GSP who clearly have not looked to finish anytime recently.
I don’t mind watching Chael on the ground punching away. he postures up, get gets to his feet and throws down…he’s not hammer fisting or plugging away against the cage ala Jon Fitch for 3 rounds.
it’s the top of the world in the toughest 185 lb class in the sport. Chael looked far better against Silva than ANYONE in memory minus Chonan’s flying scissor to heel hook back in pride.

Gasp. Sigh . . .
Still blaming Silva for the Patrick Cote fight?
Are we still mad that Anderson Silva actually won the fight? Are we still mad at Ed Soares for manipulating the UFC, cherry picking Silva’s opponents, and purposely attempting to clean up Anderson’s post-fight words? Still mad that Anderson Silva doesn’t care to speak English to American fans?
- Did Chael Sonnen choke? YUP
- Did he get caught with a hail mary submission?
- Was Silva making excuses with his fake injury because he doesn’t want to fight for the rest of the year?
- GSP will totally own Silva with his top game!!
- Silva’s takedown defense sucks!!
- Silva’s brazilian jiu-jitsu is not top level like Maia’s.
- Chael BEAT Silva’s ass and finally made him show true humility!!!

Seriously, this post deserves a Killer Cam’ron special.

VEe is ANIMated!
Oh yeah I forgot to add in upper-case bold,
- CHAEL SONNEN PROVED THAT GSP IS THE #1 P4P FIGHTER IN THE UFC. HE’S NEVER BEEN DOMINATED LIKE THAT!!! And he’s a total gentleman with the true respect, humility and modesty of a martial arts fighters in and outside the cage . . . even when he’s not impressed with your performance.
And then we can continue with rants and raves about exactly how a GSP-Silva fight will go down.
The boredom is killing me, I can not wait till 4:30pm so I can go straight home. I need more MMA Animals!!

seems like a quote of mine [which i stand by]. If it is it has nothing to do with my remark to Kelvin above as i similarily pointed out to him, but i guess im just confused with what you’re getting at in general reallly…
Are we mad or are we discussing mma? isn’t that what this blog is for? or am i supposed to use it as a shrine to Anderson Silvas nuts? If i left my opinion at the door and just parroted yours would i still be mad? I think so….

I'm going no where with this - just tongue-in cheek fun.
I’m just messing around. I understand why there are many Silva detractors.
Some of the posts and comments just sound a little bit repetitive but some border on some serious fanatical craziness.
Not a dig at your comments really, we disagree on some things MMA and that’s cool. You often brought up some reasonable well thought out points. You know I’m a biased Silva fan and will hold down the shrine to his skills – including the capoeira, impersonations and dancing just not the running away from Maia. Ha!
Oh yeah, Hail Mary submission? He’s trying to submit Sonnen for quite a while. Fortunately for Silva, Sonnen choked*. This is now the part where I segue into how GSP would not make the mistake because he’s an all around better MMA fighter.
The Ed Soares hate? Uhmm . . . uhhh yeah, some people are really, really mad.
theworldsoldestsport sounds like he’s mad for sure.
Oh yeah, the MMA animals sounds like a good cartooning project.
- Yeah, I basically will represent the Chael Sonnen choked viewpoint. It sounds cool and applicable based on the definition of the word.

BJ was tearing GSP apart to start off that fight for basically 1 1/2 rounds….against a guy not even naturally in his weight class.

Penn gave him some trouble, I wouldn’t go as far to say that he was tearing him apart. Penn made it competitive.

Right, Penn was able to keep him off balance, and he was having some success early on.
But overall, it wasn’t enough to gain a lot of ground in the fight. He was making it a good fight.

Sonnen choke he had it on every level but one, mind over matter , look at the fight it wasn’t the same Anderson Silva of old hell no , and whats so good about Sonnen , oh take downs so what , if Anderson would have put on that famous leg lock from time , it would have been over but something didn’t look right , and Sonnen took advantage of that and didn’t know what to do when a person doesn’t give up , he sucks, he look worse than Anderson after the fight and dont tell me about skin color thats stupid he had no cuts for someone taking all those punches , and he took them ,didn’t block or move, standing up or down, are u crazy , Sonnen weak , and he taking shit about Rampage are u crazy Rampage lol light out first round
