Local Fight Scene Update: Georgia MMA

A lot of past and upcoming news I wanted everyone to know about.

Ururahy Rodrigues (pictured) received his Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu last week. Arron "Tex" Johnson received his Brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu last week as well.

Tex also picked up a win this weekend in Bollix, Mississippi improving his record to 6-3. Video of the fight is below.

Kiko France defeated Cale Yarbrough at Fight Me MMA in St. Louis, Missouri.

Douglas Lima is set to face Ryan Ford at MFC 26: Retribution. Best wishes to Douglas on September 10th.

In just three days Scott Barrett will take on Polish Heavyweight Damian Grabowski at Bellator 25.

Micah Miller will take on Diego Sariva at the Tachi Palace fights September 9th.

Bangkok Fight Night is returning to Center Stage in Atlanta August 21. Headlining will be a re-match between Dave Vitkay and Warren Thomson.

Good stuff, man. Ururahy is a talented fighter. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him fighting on television sometime soon.

Really nervous for Barrett, Strikeforce and the UFC didn’t pick him up for some strange reason and this is his breakout moment. I really hope he can stifle Grabowski’s grappling. I have been saying for about a year now Miller’s hands are looking sooo good. Put away Conners and I think he is really going to show off his jab and body work against Saravia. BTW if anyone is intrested in young talented fighters check out ULTMMA.com. Their ranking system is great. Great website to follow the careers of guys that are going to make waves in the MMA world

Yeah I spoke with Barrett prior what was suppose to be his fight versus Jeff Monson, back in March in MI, and he’s had a really hard time getting fights. Once your a 10-1 HW nobody wants to fight you. Monson just didn’t show up for the weigh-ins on that one.

Grabowski’s grappling will be a huge step-up for Barrett. Ground n’ pound vs. Submission in that one for sure.
