UFC on Versus 2 Results: Gomi stops Griffin in 64 seconds
Those writing what appeared to be the final chapter on Takanori Gomi's career in MMA need to stop writing.
Gomi became the first man to stop Tyson Griffin, dropping the Xtreme Couture lightweight with a right hook in 64 seconds Sunday at UFC on Versus 2 in San Diego, Calif.
The crowd chants "USA" as the two trade to start the fight. Griffin staying at the edge of Gomi's punches. He eats a body shot. Then Gomi drills Gomi with a right hook directly to the chin that sends Griffin face-down with a classic "Ric Flair flop" to the canvas. The time is 1:04
This marks the first time Griffin has lost by anything other than decision. It is his second straight loss.
This marks Gomi's first win inside the Octagon after losing to Kenny Florian in March.
