"He took some hard shots when they were against the fence. He was looking for a way out. He was blocking some punches. At one point he tried to spin to push Shane away and took a couple shots. And then again, went for a deep half guard position and took a couple more shots. When he curled up after that is when I commanded him to fight back, which at that point he did, and then he went for feet on the hips to push Carwin away and was able to get to his knees. He pretty much ran with it. He heard -- he responded to my commands."

Referee Josh Rosenthal explains his officiating in Satuday's Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin fight at UFC 116 to ESPN's MMA Live.

No real need for an explanation, in my opinion. Brock handled himself quite well under the onslaught and never stopped defending or looking for a better position. The only people who are pissed the fight wasn’t stopped are the haters. Excellent job by the ref for recognizing the situation and keeping himself composed enough to make the right call.

on point.

I thought he did an excellent job. I think Herb dean let Carwin punch Mir until his arms were straightout flat on the matt. Brock was nowhere near that hurt. Big f@%kin gorilla he is.

mr. rosenthal has nothing to explain. he did a good job. when lesnars beats velasquez and jds

he will accomplish something that fedor has never done. beat three top 5 guys with a combined record of 32-1. remember lesnar will get every advantage to win these fights.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. I still will always follow the Mountain West Conference. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez and face the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson where he will defeat JDS and stake his claim as pound for pound champion.

That wasn’t Herb Dean during Carwin-Mir,that was Tan Dan.And that was a horrendous and dangerously late stoppage that probably shortened Mir’s career by several years. If Nogueira love taps Frank and he falls flat as a board,I wouldn’t be shocked. The beating Carwin put on him was vicious and totally, totally un-neccissary.

I 100% agree with you Brian. It was very unnessasary. I was just trying to make a point that Brock was nowhere near in bad shape like Mir was and that Rosenthal made a good call not stopping the fight. But i bet Mir wont lobby for a Mir vs Carwin II.
