Fedor Emelianenko's Handler's Optimistic A UFC Deal Can Be Reached?

None other than M-1 President Vadim Finklestein commented on the scenario with Russian magazine ProSport via Fighter's Only:

"I think yes. But not on the same terms they[UFC] offered us before. We will not let ourselves to get owned. Fedor became very popular [already] outside the Octagon. So, long story short: 1. We would like to receive guaranteed payments. I know that if we agree for percents, they will cheat us. 2. Maybe not a co-promotion (like we offered before), but at least co-branding. 3. They also will have to permit Fedor participating in Sambo competitions, and during our last negotiations UFC were ready for that term," he said

I think it's merely posturing after Emelianenko's only real defeat to Werdum a couple of weeks ago.  Particularly because of the 'we will not let ourselves get owned' portion of the statement.  M-1 knows that Fedor has one more fight on his Strikeforce contract, and they want it to be against Werdum:

"Fedor will fight again sometime between October and November… the only thing fans want to see is Fedor vs Werdum II. Fabricio himself said that he would like to rematch Fedor in Russia. That would be great, but this fight will not happen in Russia," he added, outlining how the rematch would have to happen in the US for financial reasons.

If Fedor is able to avenge the loss to Werdum, he then re-establishes a bit of the aura he lost in his first real defeat.  By openly talking about potentially going to the UFC while under contract with Strikeforce tells me that they would use a win over Werdum(if Fedor won) as leverage to squeeze more money out of Strikeforce for another contract and then possibly take the Overeem fight.  Or hell could freeze over and the UFC signs Fedor, but I wouldn't be holding my breath on that one.  It is interesting that Vadim is backing off the co-promotion idea and offering to settle for 'co-branding'.  'Co-branding' could be  alot of things from M-1 logos on the octagon floor to allowing Fedor to sport M-1 on his shorts, which would be a lot more doable opposed to co-promoting.  However, I still think all of this is more akin to some Tito Ortiz signing with Affliction type of posturing.  We'll see.

The sources I’ve heard from say that Emelianenko-Werdum 2 won’t happen unless a contract extension of some kind is signed. I’m definitely not saying that’s what will happen, just what I’ve heard from a few folks.

Fraidor!!

Give it bro, Dana doesn’t want-that bum under any terms.
" FRAIDOR" has been “exposed,” and now Finkle and his group of thieving gangsters want to dump off their damaged goods on the UFC.
Hope Dana tells them to go pound sand.
Finkle may even try to give him away when the contract ends and they are all bankrupt-and broke, and even Strike force has no new offers for them.
LET the bum go fight fight sambo fights, seehow much monrey finkle can make offf those!!!
Who wants an exposed Russian tomato can, with a padded Japanese fight record? …not the UFC that’s for sure!! —Cagestoker IFitHD

Fedor must had a bad morning that day. If there will ever be a rematch i am sure fedor will defeat werdum and still show respect.

I can’t understand why someone would call fedor a bum???

All Dana wants is money. He don’t care about good fighters.

Re: FRAIDOR

Hey Stoker, why don’t you stand in front of “FRAIDOR” and say that. I can see you’re a KEYBOARD WARRIOR GRANDMASTER.

Really you can't take posts like that seriously I mean Fraidor, I think we could do better.

I do love any time someone uses the phrase “Go pound sand” though.

You should know MMA before making ignorant comments

it is true that we can express our opinion openly. but for God’s sake have some substance on your comments don’t just talk trash. Fedor is a competitive HW. and, he has accomplished quite a bit. He is just as good as any other HW (if not better). He has a proven track record (like no other). There is absolutely no doubt that he dominated the HW devision in the past. His place in history has been established (even if he was to lose every fight from now on). NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY WHAT HE DID IN PRIDE AGAINST THE (BACK THEN) BEST. The only thing in question is “does he still have it?”

Do people even listen to that putz anymore? He does nothing but talk out his ass. Any leverage they had went swirling down the toilet when Werdum tapped Fedor. Fedor isn’t a draw, his skills are clearly declining and the guy is about as interesting as a doorknob. Fedor is the GOAT HW but he isn’t the best HW currently. His opportunity to cash in has passed and there is no way to regain his invincible mystique.

Who's the putz, fedor?

I don’t think fedor is a putz or talks out of his ass. If you’re reffering to Dana White, then yes I agree with you.

He’s a victim of age, which all of us will face someday. His prime is over but that doesn’t erase his amazing past, and that’s what it’s all about. He’s getting up there in age, if he could still fight like he used to it would be fucking strange and I’d wonder if the dude was an actual machine. Either way, the disrespect that people give him is absurd, the dude accomplished so much back in his prime, he beat the top 5 guys in his prime, and everyone else they threw at him. He needs to be remembered for his legacy and not swept under the carpet because Dana White wants to make money off him.

I think he's talking about Vadim

I love Fedor too, but I think we can all agree Vadim is a putz

What sucks is that Fedor almost equals Vadim.

Fedor has known about all this crap for years, the reputation his ‘management’ has earned for their behavior, and he has willingly continued his relationship with them.

I will always love Fedor the fighter, but I’m ready to say that Vadim is nothing more than a hatchet man for Fedor so he can maintain that awesome mystique/persona.

If I was a hungry man with a gun in my hand and some promises to keep...

Yeah I was referring to Finkelfuck, the guy is just a worthless assbag.
