NSAC announces UFC 116 medical suspensions
The Nevada State Athletic Commission announced its medical suspensions from Saturday's "UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin." Eleven fighters in total were suspended by the commission. They are as follows:
- Brock Lesnar — Suspended until Aug. 18. No contact until Aug. 3 for right eyelid and left eyebrow lacerations
- Shane Carwin — Suspended until Sept. 2. No contact until Aug. 18.
- Dave Branch — Suspended until Sept. 2. No contact until Aug. 18.
- Chris Leben — Suspended until Aug. 3. No contact until July 25 for having a tough fight.
- Ricardo Romero — Minimum suspension until Sept. 2. Must have broken left lower jaw cleared or no contest until Dec. 31. No contact until Aug. 18.
- Yoshihiro Akiyama — Suspended until Aug. 18. No contact until Aug. 3 for having a tough fight.
- Krysztof Soszynski — Minimum suspension until Sept. 2. Must have left thumb cleared by doctor or no contest until Dec. 31. No contact until Aug. 18
- Stephan Bonnar — Suspended until Aug. 18. No contact until Aug. 3 for facial lacerations.
- Kurt Pellegrino — Minimum suspension until Aug. 18. Must have left knee cleared with an orthopedic doctor or no contest until Dec. 31. No contact until Aug. 3.
- Chris Tuchscherer — Minimum suspension until Sept. 2. Must have left ear cleared for hearing loss or no contest until Dec. 31. No contact until Aug. 18 for right cheek laceration.
- Seth Petruzelli — Minimum suspension until Sept. 2. Must have right elbow strain cleared by an orthopedic doctor or no contest until Dec. 31. No contact until Aug. 18.

Why in the world is Carwin’s suspension longer than Brock? Brock took a beating while Carwin tapped before being choked out. Hell, his suspension is as long as Dave Branchs’… who was ktfo after being slammed.
Makes no sense to me, these suspensions.

Some Athletic boards give as long a suspension to chokes as to KOs
He may have told the doctor he went out for a second as he tapped from the choke, and though a Choke and impact KO are worlds apart in recovery and long term effects, athletic boards are chocked full of people with ZERO combat sports experience, so……..
