Ratcliff out, Downes in at WEC 49
WEC General Manager Reed Harris told Ariel Helwani on "The Daily Line" on VERSUS that Danny Downes will step in on short notice to face Chris Horodecki this Sunday at WEC 49 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Downes is out of the Duke Roufus camp and trains with current WEC 155-pounder Anthony Pettis.
This will be Downes' WEC debut. He is 6-0 and is coming off a first round TKO win against Bruce Johnson at "King of the Cage: Turbulence 2" in Wisconsin on April 24. Five of his six wins have come by TKO.
Horodecki (14-2), is coming off a first-round TKO loss to Anthony Njokuani at WEC 45 in December.
Ratcliff dropped out of the fight earlier Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. Harris said on "The Daily Line" that it is the WEC's policy to not disclose a fighter's injury until they do so.

Not to short-sell Downes
But his 6-0 record is over dudes who have a combined 21-41. Just sayin’.

I don't think that means much...
Floyd Mayweather’s first six opponents have a combined record of 57-92-7 and only one of them is over the .500 mark.
Wanderlei Silva’s first six opponents have a combined record of 20-32.
What I’m saying is that you are a product of the area you come from. It doesn’t make sense to go across the country for a $500 payday, so you fight locally. I haven’t exactly heard of Wisconsin as being a hotbed for local MMA. He could be the second coming of BJ Penn, we just don’t know because all six of his fights have been in Wisconsin. I wouldn’t discredit him because of his opponent’s records until you actually see him fight, see his skills. If he sucks, then yeah, he is a product of his record. But Reed Harris said he’s a guy they’ve had their eye on for awhile now, so he must have something if they were planning to bring him into the fold eventually anyway.

I wonder if the injury has anything to do with his last fight,
when Cerrone kneed him in the balls like 9 times
