Report: Griffin out of UFC 114 fight with Nogueira
TMZ has done it again, this time reporting that former UFC light-heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin will have to pull out of his UFC 114 fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira because of a shoulder injury.
Forrest Griffin -- one of the most popular fighters in the UFC -- is backing out of his fight later this month because of a bum shoulder ... TMZ has learned.
Sources tell us the former UFC light heavyweight champ's shoulder injury is serious enough that he won't be able to fight Lil' Nog on May 29 in Las Vegas.
The extent of Griffin's injury is unclear.
Well, this is an unfortunate blow for that card. Hopefully the UFC can pull someone out of the woodwork to fight Nogueira. Maybe see if Thiago Silva is willing to move up? Interestingly enough, the last time Griffin had to pull out of a fight, it saved him from facing Lyoto Machida at UFC 70 and he went on to beat Mauricio Rua and Quinton Jackson in his next to fights, winning the title against Jackson. Will the UFC reschedule this fight for a later date?

oh man
tough fight for someone to take on that short of notice…I’d like to see Thiago Silva take that fight…but he’s coming off an injury as well…probably can’t do it.

FUUUUUUUU......
I was really looking forward to this fight… Honestly I don’t think they have a replacement available at 205…
Nate Marquardt? He seems pretty big for 185…

I called this
I called this,on this very site,a couple months back.
It was a bad style matchup for Forrest. He openly said he didn’t like the fight, both because of the style matchup, and the fact that Nog isn’t really known to American fans yet.It was a loose-loose situation. He’s was fighting a super tough guy that nobody besides those in the the know apprechiate. If he beat him, everybody would be going,“so who did you beat?”.If he lost, they’d go,“you lost to who?”.
Wise move on Forrest’s part.Maybe he can get that Thiago Silva fight they were trying to make last year.
