Yep, I’m expecting something violent. The might have actually preferred something like this over the fight versus Bader (who’s injured), because looking at that card there is the potential for a night’s worth of decisions…
This one ends violently

I know most people think I'm crazy but I think Chael is gonna get seriously fucked up.
I don’t think Anderson is fuck around this time
I don't think you're crazy
I haven’t bought into the Chael hype at all. Silva is gonna merk him

Good to see Boetsch get another shot
He’s a dude that seems like a good fit for the UFC. Not a world-beater by any means, but if he’s not fighting in the UFC he’ll just be killing random scrubs in the no-name shows.

Boetsch has a decent shot here
Silva only has an average jaw-people are forgetting that Antonio Mendes almost put him out,and he made Machida look like some sort of KO machine in their fight.Boetsch has good power, and if this fight stays on the feet,I give him a decent enough chance of landing one on Silva’s chin.Stranger things have happened.
But Silva has brutal ground and pound, and Boetsch’s defensive wrestling is hot garbage,so I think we’ll probably see Silva play around on the feet enough to know that he’s playing with fire, and then get a quick takedown, and pound Boetsch out.

I agree
Boetsch has a shot at winning if it stays standing…

As for Silva vs Sonnen
If you’re expecting some sort of grand KO,dream on.That’s going to be a grapple fest.Sonnen will take him down over and over and over again, and when he starts to tire out,Silva will submit him.
Silva ain’t going to knock him out,for no other reason than Sonnon has a quality beard, and won’t come running at him winging punches.Silva will win by submission,or he will loose by decision. That’s the only way that fight is going down.Silva ain’t going to go out there and make Chael Sonnen look like Chris Leben or Forrest Griffin, for no other reason than Sonnen doesn’t fight like those guys. He’s not going to try to strike with Silva whatsoever, which isn’t going to allow Silva to do much.As we have seen several times already, when guys don’t throw at Silva,it effectively neuters his offense on the feet.Sonnen knows this.
If Sonnen wasn’t such a rube when it came to submissions,I’d consider him a lock to beat Silva.I almost want to pick him as it stands now,but watching him get subbed so many times over the years, doesn’t give me much hope.I mean,I can vividly remember watching him get worked over on the mat by Babalu back in the day.
But the fight it will probably most look like is the first Filho fight-he’ll come out guns a blazin, run rough shod all over the man for awhile, and as soon as he starts to slow down a little,he’ll get caught in something.

Not to mention neither Hendo nor Wandy knocked Franklin out, only Machida TKO’d him, and Silva absolutely annihilated him.

But when was the last time we saw the Thai clinch from Silva? He never uses it anymore.
Plus,it would be foolhardy to clinch with Sonnen,or try any kind of flying anything at him. That’s just going to make it even easier for him to take him down.Best thing for Anderson to do in this fight is to use mad foot work, stay away from Sonnen, and work his boxing.Try to catch Sonnen as much as possible coming in,try to stun him, then catch him in a sub when he takes him down.
Otherwise,Anderson runs the risk of getting tired along with Sonnen, and not being able to submit him as the fight goes longer.Sonnen’s going to win those early rounds just on takedowns and control alone.Silva’s not going to be able to stop that.He doesn’t have the defense for that, and never has.
I think you’re over rating Silva’s offense a little too much as well.Sure,he blasted Franklin and Leben and all those guys, but what did those guys do?They came right at him swinging. When guys don’t swing at Silva-when they just kind of stand there,or just shoot on him-he doesn’t do much in return.Sonnen has never been a guy to mix it up on the feet. He’s going to just come right in and shoot on you.And unlike Leites or Maia,he’ll be able to plant Silva on the mat,and keep him there.Whether or not he’ll be able to avoid a submission once he gets there,is the question.

And FWIW,neither Hendo or Wandy ever hit Franklin cleanly. If they had,it would have been lights out.Every time anyone has connected on him decently,he’s gone to bed.Hell,Tanner almost put him to bed for cryin out loud-if he’d tried to pound him out instead of going for positional control,be probably would have finished him.
And you forgot that Belfort KO’ed him,BTW.

yeah, forgot about Belfort
For some reason it feels like that fight never actually happened…
But, I just dont think you can over-value Silva’s striking. In any phase of the game, Silva’s reactionary speed is far greater than Sonnen’s. And there is absolutely nothing Sonnen can do that Silva won’t expect or be prepared for.

You’re forgetting the fact that Silva has shitty takedown defense and against a guy like Sonnen who doesn’t gas out like his buddy Hendo that is going to lead to a long night of eating elbows at UFC 117.

Im thinkin Silva locks up a body triangle to neutralize Sonnen’s top game and gets that thing back to the feet

You can over-value it,when it comes to the fact that the man is unable to do anything but stand there and clown around when someone doesn’t throw offense at him. He’s just like Pedro Rizzo was 8 years ago-the man is hell on wheels when someone is standing across from his throwing bombs at him.But if someone is standing there posing at him,he’ll pose right back.It feels strange to him to have to throw the first blow. That’s why you hear him talking about not wanting to “take risks” and all this crap. For crying out loud, the man wouldn’t go after Thales Leites on the feet.
Silva is NOT going to KO Chael Sonnen.I would be absolutley shocked if he did.He will submit him,or Chael will beat him by decision. That’s the only two ways this fight is going down.Unless something flukey happens, like the fight gets stopped on a cut or an eye poke or some such thing.

I'm giving Sonnen about a 30% of beating Silva
I definitely think Sonnen could grind out a decision against him….but he just falls into subs like it’s nobody’s business!! Hell, even Marquardt almost got him in the last round…and he was gassed.

Did he KO Patrick Cote?Thales Leties?Demian Maia?
What was the one simmilar thing about all three of those fighters?
None of them came forward and threw offense at the man…….well, except for Maia at the tail end of the fight, but by that point Silva was so into retreat mode that I think Maia could have hit him in the face with a 2×4 and he wouldn’t have responded.
If you don’t throw at Silva,he’s not going to throw at you. It’s that simple.

Although Chael is a huge dog in this fight. .I will be routing for him with all my being!! I jst pray that he plays it smart and avoids the triangle type subs on the groung against silva. I see Chaal dominating for a goos portion of the fight. But just can’t see him finishing silva, or avoiding being finished for a full 2 minutes. I can’t wait to see that fight.
I’de also love to see Bog Dog submit hughes!!
or avoiding being finished for a full 2 minutes
^ Best typo ever. Because it’s true lol
