I feel u…Kos was dominating Thiago until that wild combo caught him…I don’t see that happening again…so that’s why Kos is ahead of Thiago….
I think Daley, Hardy, and Kampmann would beat Hughes at this point@Dooner

HUGHES?

WHAT ABOUT NICK DIAZ HE HAS A SICK GROUND GAME AND PAULO THIAGO IS A 6 TIME BRASILIA BJJ CHAMP, 5 TIME BJJ STATE CHAMP AND A JUDO BLACK BELT !

Bear in mind, over just a year Paulo Thiago has become a much better fighter. I expect him to fight for the title sometime next year.

Yeah that’s not entirely unlikely… I don’t think him losing to Fitch is what people recall when they hear ‘Paulo Thiago’ but rather him standing over a Josh Koscheck he just knocked retarded.

Yeah, he almost finished Fitch in that fight, too. But, alas, no one finishes Fitch.

I look at his win over Swick as a great measure of how far he’s come in so little time. If he could make MMA his full-time job, he’d be crazy dangerous.

i find it funny that soonen is second to anderson silva's #1, while koscheck is fourth to gsp's #1

if soonen is second in rankings so should koscheck?

I disagree@Robert

Paulo still looks the same to me standing…same little combo…of course his sub game is his strength…just his opponents are not adjusting to his tendencies…plus…he had his hands full with Volkmann…who’s at 155 now

I think Thiago will always have a little difficulty with good wrestlers, but his other strengths can overcome that. Against Swick he was throwing very crisp combos. If he works on pumping that jab a little more, he could become the second best striker (behind Alves) in the UFC WW division now that Daley is out.

It’s pretty obvious the vice grip I have on Paulo Thiago’s nuts.

Power is his biggest asset and he already loves to throw combos, which most of the division doesn’t. He’s got a snappy jab that if he threw a little more would be very effective. He’s not there yet, but with a little more development he could be.

Standing Thiago' strength is power he's proved that, guy can punch.

Christmas is a scrappy mother fucker dude, lots of guys have had pretty good careers for being that tough SOB.

I just want to point out

That the man listed as the #6 welterweight in the world has had ONE WIN at welterweight in the past THREE YEARS. And that one man was not top-ten talent.

I'd take Hughes out

before Diaz. Oooh, he beat Renzo.

Three outta the top four are yawn-inducing. Man…welterweights used to be fun to watch. Now it’s the wrestling clinic era…but it doesn’t have to be. I guess ya can’t knock ’em though – they gotta win and get paid.

by The Real T-Bone on May 19, 2010 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions

He hasn't been fighting as much latley but who has he lost to in the last I dont know 5 years?

The Renzo fight was a joke anybody should have known that, shit I bet Hughes would give Paulo a lot of trouble his wrestling is as good as Jon’s and he can actually knock people out, or submit them. Besides if you drop Hughes you have to drop Alves too because Hughes is his best win.

by doonerthesooner on May 19, 2010 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I value sub attempts so I think Serra beat him but that’s a different story altogether.

True he fights about once a year and the history keeps him afloat. I just think everyone on the list and some who didn’t make it would beat Matty boy…like Hornbuckle, Hieron, maybe even Swick and Zaromskis.

by The Real T-Bone on May 19, 2010 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Boy over here is just huggin' all over Nick Diaz

Excuse me, I need to go train so that I can beat up Marius Zaromskis too.. then we’ll both have the same number of wins at 170 lately, and I can be tied for #6 with Diaz.
