Jawbreaker Promotions: "Mama Said Knock You Out" Full Results

Jawbreaker Promotions: "Mama Said Knock You Out"

Jawbreaker Promotions invaded the Raleigh Convention Center this past weekend to host their "Mama Said Knock You Out" boxing/MMA hybrid event.  Of course we have the full results on the MMA side of things.  Keith Bell moved his profesional record to (2-0) with a TKO win in the second round.  Blake Risk won his MMA debut in the very first round.  The fight that I called to be the fight of the night ended in a draw between Jesus Ortega and Varon Webb.  Also, in the battle of the unbeatens, Harley Ferris put Gregory Weeks away in the first round via submission.  The full results are below:

-Keith Bell defeated Jame Price via TKO at :46 of Rd. 2

-Chico Santiago defeated Ryan Bedini via KO at 4:25 of Rd. 1

-Blake Risk defeated Jose Majano via Submission(Arm Triangle) at 2:12 of Rd. 1

-Jesus Ortega vs. Varon Webb was declared a Draw

-Darrin Billock defeated Wayne Hunter via Submission(Armbar) at :56 of Rd. 1

-Harley Ferris defeated Gregory Weeks via Submission(RNC) at 1:57 of Rd. 1

good night of fights. nice venue, good lighting(something you don’t think about until you go to some venues and either dry ice or super bright lights throw off visibility for the crowd).

highlights/lowlights:
- entertaining scraps all around, with a surprising amount of submissions
- ref could’ve stepped in to stop the Santiago fight sooner. The guy had taken 2 knees to the face standing before the 3rd one closed it out/he’d slumped to the ground
- Bedini was laid out in the ring for what felt like too long before the doctor or his corner hopped in to get his mouthpiece out of his mouth/in case he swallowed it after a brutal series of knees.

one judge apiece scored it 29-28 if I recall correctly, hard to hear over the crowd, and the 3rd judge scored it a draw, i figure the 3rd judge scored the 1st round 10-8 for Webb and the 2nd and 3rd rds 10-9, 10-9 for Ortega.

As it was, the first round was Webb, the second was Ortega….and the 3rd was close, Ortega stuffed the takedowns of Webb, Webb was looking for the takedown….it was razor close.

either way, it was good for both. another entertaining fight on their resumes, both showed some dynamic striking, takedowns, takedown defense at times…etc.
