Our SBN brethren has the scoop over at MMAMania in that the UFN 21 event headlined by Kenny Florian and Takanori Gomi did an average of 1.9 million viewers, peaking at 2 million viewers for the main event.
The ratings for the premier of TUF 11 with coaches Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell are in as well via MMAPayout. Check it:
MMAPayout.com has learned that Wednesday's debut episode of The Ultimate Fighter 11 earned a 1.5 HH rating with an average audience of 1.9 million viewers on Spike TV. The debut was the #2 rated program in the country amongst the M18-34 (2.1) and M18-49 (1.9).
If you recall, the debut of TUF 10 earned a 2.9HH with a 5.3 in the M18-34 and 4.3 in the M18-49. Thus the Kimbo Effect is in full effect. It remains to be seen whether the ratings will dip down to the 1.0 mark that TUF 9 experienced throughout much of the season, but it probably wouldn't surprise anyone.
I watched the initial offering from TUF 11, and I must say I was entertained and will be tuning in for the second episode. Just by looking at the promotional efforts from Spike TV(Tito and Chuck getting mad and throwing hissy fits), I doubt that this season will dip below the 1.0 mark that TUF 9 touched on. As long as the fights are entertaining(the first episode was good there), and Tito and Chuck show some personality, the show will likely do decently this season.
