Strikeforce announces June 16 event in Los Angeles
Strikeforce is heading to Los Angeles.
The promotion announced Tuesday that it will hold an event June 16 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, a mid-week (Wednesday) event in conjuction with the E3 Expo 2010.
The show will feature middleweight Robbie Lawler, heavyweight Bobby Lashley and lightweight KJ Noons. Their opponents will be announced shortly, according to Strikeforce.
At E3, EA SPORTS will exhibit its EA SPORTS MMA title in which Strikeforce is featured. The game is scheduled for release later this year.
The event will air on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET (delayed on West Coast).

A mid-week card
So they can get a little bit of press from a video-game conference. It’s a tie-in, but not a very good one; the exposure they’ll get as being part of EA MMA is going to pale in comparison to the number of viewers they’ll lose by running on an odd day. E3 got chopped down significantly a year or two ago, and it’s also limited to legit media now. Companies like Nintendo Power isn’t going to run a piece of Strikeforce; best case is they get a photo of some fighters and a credit.

Yeah, running a show on a wednesday would be a tough sell even for the UFC. Strikeforce are screwed, no way this is a success.
Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't
help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...
