I think Forrest is right (can’t believe I just typed that) that Aldo showed mercy to Faber later in the fight. I think Aldo came into the fight with a lot of respect for Faber. It showed when the met in the center of the octagon before the fight. Aldo wouldn’t even look Urijah in the eye. It reminded me of Hughes/GSP 1 but, fortunately, with a better outcome.
For some reason, the consensus seems to be it was a display of class for him to show mercy. A week or two ago were were all talking about how pissed everyone was when Anderson Silva had Maia beaten but refused to go in for the kill. What’s the difference? One of the reasons could be the dominant fighter’s behavior during the fight. Aldo continued to fight to the point of showing him dominance but didn’t go in for the kill. Anderson just joked around trying to embarrass Maia.
Another Conversation Topic: When should a corner throw in the towel to protect their fighter? By the end of the 3rd round, I thought Urijah’s corner should have thrown in the towel to protect him from himself. The fact that his corner had to pick him up and carry him to the corner speaks volume. Then, once in the corner, they simply recommended he swarm him. What type of advice is that? “Yea, thanks corner I hadn’t thought about that strategy!” Dude could barely walk.
I agree to a certain extent. Damage to legs, however, can equal knee surgery and a full year out of commission.
It’s amazing – Forrest just basically defined the concept of showing mercy to an opponent but concluded Aldo didn’t show any mercy. Disagreeing just to disagree.
He started off the show basically saying that – hence my original statement saying I agreed with him.
It’s like the special olympics of zingers.

Oh man, this show… this is something else. The “UFC Blue” show was the dickens (and I mean that in a good way), IMO, and yet everyone is ripping each other to shreds and apparently everyone’s lost their minds, or maybe it’s just sleep deprivation on the part of one or more of the hosts. But, I enjoyed it all as it was great entertainment.
So the soundboard failed me
And there’s no outro tunes. A great finish, no?

I co-host a show with two guys in their mid to late 20s who live with their parents.
How sad is that?
How's that education coming? Or a career of any kind?
Just asking.
