Very Nice
I would suggest Almeida work boxing and a whole lot more boxing before this fight, because if the Gracie fight was any indication, Hughes won’t want to play jiu jitsu with someone like Almeida.
Almeida is bigger and stronger than both Gracie and Matt Serra. I’ve been a fan of Big Dog for a long time, and hopefully he bumps up his name in this one.

you talking to me?
Nope, not at all. But if Hughes doesn’t want to go to the ground, Almeida needs to be prepared for Ultimate Kickboxing

I was just confused about your previous comment that's all.
You’re probably right though I wouldn’t be surprised if this turned in to a stand up fight

Almeida
stood with Matt Brown on the feet….Brown ain’t Anderson Silva…but he’s no worse that Matt Hughes either…probably better…

That is true, that is true.
I think it’s gonna be a really competitive fight. What round did Almeida sub Brown in I cant remember? The thing is Almeida has to cut alot of weight right like so much he might come in bigger than Hughes right? I wonder how he’ll do in the 3rd

he'll be bigger than Hughes
you are right…gas tank could be a factor….Almeida said making 170 was a B****….but he should do better with the cut this time around…

projected moneylines. -140 hughes and +120 almeida.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! i agree. the only reason i have hughes as a favorite is because most people know him very well.
the people in the know i think would take almeida b/c he is very agressive and i think he will win the fight. hughes to me is on the downside of his career while almeida is rising. i mean hughes fight with gracie was kind of a joke. hughes knew he would win after 3 or 4 minutes into the fight. that is why you saw him reach his hand out and help pick up renzo gracie. that is what i call too nice in an mma fight.

Almeida can beat him
And either way, the bout has some great storylines, with Hughes battling Renzo’s student, Hughes’ recent Gracie domination, etc. But Almeida can overpower him, while Royce and Renzo couldn’t. It’s time for a BJJ fighter to at least give him a run for his money.

For those of you thinking Hughes won't want to go to the mat with Almeida
Hughes already beat Almeida back in the day at ADCC in a straight grappling match.
Hughes wins this one pretty easy in my opinion, assuming he shows up in shape.People are forgetting that Almeida couldn’t even take down Patrick Cote, for crying out loud.He doesn’t have a great gas tank, and against Hughes, won’t be able to dictate where the fight goes.

Yeah, using sound reason and logic is just unfair.

I can't stand Hughes
In fact,I actively root against him.I just about died laughing when GSP kicked his head into the third row.
But the man is still a solid welterweight.Almedia has always been just kind of a middle of the road fighter-not bad,but not great.
A one dimensional grappler with no striking and no wrestling is not going to beat Matt Hughes.Even an old, disinterested Matt Hughes.
Beating up Matt Brown doesn’t prove you’re a world beater.Hell,Matt Brown got subbed by Amir Saddollah for cryin out loud, before he’d even had a pro fight.

ehh
the cote fight was a while ago…not to mention Cote is a pretty big MW…that has fought at LHW…..not to mention that Hughes is no where near what he was when that grappling match took place….wouldnt’ surprise me to see Almeida win if he’s in shape.
