Sherdog breaks the story
Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has signed a four-fight minimum, two-year contract renewal, the promotion’s CEO Scott Coker confirmed on Friday
So this throws some water on the idea of Mousasi heading to the UFC. It was thought that once his contract was up with Strikeforce Mousasi would jump ship. The signing should not be a huge shock seeing as Mousasi is expected to take part in the Dream's upcoming light heavy weight grand prix which would put him out of the UFC for another year regardless of his standing with Strikeforce.
In my opinion this is a good move by Mousasi. This gives him at least another two years of training and fighting before he steps into the shark tank. One thing that should not be over looked is that Gegard has had most of his success in the 185 lb division. Seeing as Gegard is the current 205 champion of Strikeforce it is easy to forget he is relatively new to the division. Jumping into the deep end of the UFC's light heavy weight division may not be the best decision.
A problem I see is that there isn't any interesting fights left for Mousasi in Strikefoce if beats King Mo. Henderson moving up is the only other fight that would make sense.

Well, I think that he’s ready for the lower-rate 205 fighters in the UFC, and certainly those at 185 (if he stops the LHW stuff), but it’s been suggested that with the money he’d be making they’d want him on a title hunt pretty fast, which might not work out well for him. I’m sure that Strikeforce can bring in fighters, but what I don’t believe is whether they’d be the calibur of fighters that will improve Mousasi as a fighter.

Good to hear
Mousasi sounds happy and said he’s being treated right. Plus he has his freedom to fight in Japan if he wants to.

!["It's going to take a lot of time," he said. "I have to take it step by step. I cannot put so many pounds on in a short time. First, I will be a small heavyweight, and slowly I want to put more pounds on. It will take two, three years before I'm a solid heavyweight."
"They wanted me to sign for six fights," Mousasi said of the original deal. "I didn't want that. They didn't pay me that much. But money will come. I want to grow with Strikeforce as they grow with Showtime and CBS. I think it's a good place to be.
"If I had it in my mind, like OK, I'm going to the UFC, then I would have gone. But I have a new contract with DREAM, so I'm planning to stay busy and fight in Strikeforce and Japan constantly."
"I don't want to fight for too long," he said. "(At) 30, I'm finished. In my mind, (I just want) the amount of money that [would give me] a good life. Anymore than that, I don't need.
