UFC 111 Aftermath: Brock Lesnar Says That Frank Mir's Time Is Done
Brock Lesnar who is never at a loss for words, gave his thoughts on the Carwin/Mir fight and spoke about the future of the UFC heavyweight division:
"I kind of figured Shane was going to win, though I know anything can happen in this sport," Lesnar said. "I was kind of laying back and I didn’t want to count any chickens before they hatched. Shane’s a tough guy and I just know that Frank’s time is done. This is the new evolution of the heavyweight division. Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, we’re the guys in this division."
I'll be posting up something a little later on today that could validate Lesnar's claim that Mir is done, so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, give me your thoughts on Lesnar/Carwin.

Lasnar – Carwin is a tough tough call man…
so much to think about..
..how will Brock’s layoff affect him?
..Is he truly back to a 100%?
..can Brock survive the early onslaught?
If the fight goes to the ground, I’ll take Lesnar all day but on the feet, Carwin is capable of knocking anyone out. Perhaps even Brock.

yea
that’s what makes this fight exciting…now the big question is….would Carwin be viewed as a legit threat to Fedor?

Carwin is so boring as a person it scares me to imagine him as champion…. you know?
Lesnar-Fedor is a fight everyone wants. Carwin-Fedor? … I couldn’t care less tbh.

I personally think Fedor is too fast for Carwin. If Gonzaga can stagger him, Fedor would put him to sleep. Carwin is still a beast though.
I think you’re probably right. What would make that fight intriguing for me, though, is that if Fujita and Rogers can shake Fedor with strikes then there is always the possibility that Shane can as well.
Plus
that quickness is negated if Carwin pressed him up agains the cage like he did Mir.

That’s true, but one of the areas of Fedor’s game I worry about the least is his grappling. His tenacity and focus when he rolls is something a lot of the cats in the UFC have never experienced before.
Oh for sure
If Carwin just presses him agains the cage though…it’ll be a non-factor.

i agree I think it will be a really exciting fight!
2 monsters going at it. I think fedor would still beat brock, but carwin could catch fedor or vise versa. but i would think most people would want to see fedor and brock. dont think we will ever get to see it though, because if fedor ever gets signed by the ufc, cain will be the champ by then!
Hopefully Junior Dos Santos is working really hard on his wrestling and how to avoid takedowns or KO a big wrestler while they’re coming in. But I doubt any fighter can avoid getting into a clinch against Brock Lesnar.
Interesting concerning Mir, especially when you consider the fact that Mir is younger than Carwin-(4 years) and Lesnar-(2 years).
"There's nothing cool about taking punishment" - Floyd Mayweather Jr.
frank just sorta hangin’ out against the cage was his undoing. just like he sorta hung out on the bottom in half-guard against brock.
i know enough to know it’s not easy to just “get up” or just “get off the cage”, but it didnt appear like he was in any rush to escape/get out of that position. and in that division with those lunch box handed monsters…one shot or two and bam, it’s over. even from that short a range. Carwin drops bombs without even truly using his full reach. it’s ridiculous how powerful some of his short punches are. talk about explosiveness and being dynamic.
i think brock will waste NO time in trying to lay on top of carwin.

I was wondering that myself
How do they have him listed as that tall during the tale of the tape? Do they not measure him?
" We need spears, twice as tall as a man. "
" Well some men are taller than others."

Man oh man
I wish I were a fly on the wall when Mir heard this:
…and I just know that Frank’s time is done.
It’s great to see him all flutsered and crying about it, but I’m going to get tired of hearing Mir talk about ending Brock’s career when he’s stuck at the bottom of the top-10.
