Eliot Marshall and Shannon Gugerty Cut From The UFC

Five Knuckles Report
The UFC has reportedly released light-heavyweight Eliot Marshall and lightweight Shannon Gugerty from their contracts following losses at Sunday's UFC on Versus 1 event.
Marshall was a wierd choice to be cut seeing as his recent loss was his first in the UFC. Five knuckles elaborates.
As previously mentioned, Marshall won his first three UFC bouts, defeating Jules Bruchez at TUF 8 finale in December 2008, Vinicius Magalhães at UFC 97 in April 2009, and Jason Brilz at UFC 103 in September. He exits the UFC suffering his first Octagon loss against veteran Vladimir Matyushenko at the aforementioned UFC on Versus 1 event on March 21
Marshall simply lost a bout with a journey man fight who i'm guessing as suppose to be his stepping stone to the next level of the division. I blame his cut on the stacked 205 division. Right now the division is plugged with title contenders and to be honest they don't have room for guys like Marshall. Vladdy has some value in that he is a legend and the hardcores are happy with him. The up side to this is Marshall gets to go out and get some wins under his belt and make his way back to the big show.

Staff predictions I said
Both are painfully boring fighters, both have similar styles, and both will likely still have a contract with Zuffa after this fight.
Really surprised Marshall was cut, but it was obvious why. He is a boring fighter and the UFC wants exciting fights. Like Kelvin said he’ll be back.
If he was in any other division theres a good chance he would still have one. As i stated he just so happens to be in a division that is over flowing with talent and ANY loose ends or guys that carry no value what so ever have to go. Vladdy, boring as paint drying but the hardcores love him also he hasent loss since he came back.

![Dana White states that if James Irvin stays with the UFc it will not be at middleweight.
"No more 185(-pound fights) for him," White told MMAjunkie.com. "He didn't look good. I think he's got a lot of scar tissue in his face under his eyes. That was sticking out more than his eyeballs were. He didn't look good [at weigh-ins]."
"I'm a huge James Irvin fan," he said after the fight. "I'm a fan of the guy; I really am. He's had some of the best knockouts in the UFC, and he always comes to fight. Tonight, it looked like the cut killed him. He couldn't get off. He couldn't throw any punches tonight. He was basically getting lit up by Sakara, and that's not James Irvin. That's not who he is as a fighter. The 185 cut is too hard for him."](http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/106315/14iekis_small.jpg)
