UFC Officially Announces Rampage Jackson Vs. Rashad Evans For UFC 114
The verbal warfare continues from UFC.com.
Rampage Jackson:
"I really want to knock this guy out," Jackson said. "I’ve never, ever wanted to knock someone as cold as I want to knock Rashad Evans out. He’s disrespected me so much, for so long. I am so motivated to train my ass off. I’ve moved my coaches into my house already - Rashad should be prepared to see a brand new Rampage in May. I saw him in Sydney a few weeks back and we picked up right where we left off. I can’t stand him. He’s a disrespectful person and I didn't even want to beat Wanderlei as much as I want to beat this guy."
Rashad Evans:
"I don’t like all the pre-fight talking, so I can’t wait until I finally get my chance to shut him up," said Evans. "There were a lot of times on the show when I wanted to hit him right there. When Keith [Jardine] was training for his fight with Rampage, I had to mimic Rampage’s style. I can probably beat Rampage as Rampage now. Plus, he’s gotten fat. He needs to get in shape just to get in shape. I may come to the Octagon with Mr. T just to get in his head."
UFC 114 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 29th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The trash talk for this one will be epic. Can Rampage Jackson shake the cage rust and knockout Rashad Evans after being away from MMA for well over a year? Or will Rashad Evans use his combination of speed and power to take Rampage Jackson out?

I can’t even begin to describe how bad I want Rashad to put a beating on Rampage. I seriously doubt it will happen, but it would be nice. I was a big Rampage fan for years (when he wasn’t fighting people who’s names rhymed with “Manderlei”) but after seeing what a dipshit he was on the last TUF season I decided not to renew my membership. I don’t know what his problem was that season. When he coached a few seasons before, he didn’t be a bad job. But this reason, he didn’t give a shit about his fighters and had no problem letting them know he wasn’t a coach. It’s fine if you’re not someone who wants to coach but I’m sure the fighters who were there trying to realize their dreams/goals would have benefited from some help from a veteran fighter.
Any thoughts? I know there’s a lot of Rashad hate but I don’t see how anyone can hate the guy after the effort he put into TUF.
Honestly, I always thought Rampage was kind of a jerk but I’m still a fan. He’s a funny dude but definitely odd. Some of his jokes are really awkward and wrong but that’s Rampage. No?
I’m mean after all, He “Got Jiu-Jitsu.”
I never got the Evans hate, I understood it . . . well the social dynamics behind it but whatever, Matt Hughes got over it. Season 10 really helped Evans image.
I don’t take what we see on television really serious because all their appearances are edited and some guys are attempting to entertain us.

you got it buddy. rampage is overweight, unmotivated even though he says he is. he already got the
free car. a going away present from dana white to say bye bye after he loses to rashad. rashad is my number 1 fighter. i liked him ever since that fight with 6 feet 7 inch brad imes. that was a great match and he showed mad heart in that fight. he also showed he is incredibly stong. rashad with straight up knockout or tko in second round.

I can’t lie. I usually think some one will expose Rashad Evans, but he wins all the time. I can’t fault him in the Machida loss, it was just a lesson to be learned.
But honestly, do I think Evans can defeat Shogun or Machida? No.
Can Evans defeat Rampage? Yes, because Quinton hasn’t really shown any growth and has some holes in his game.

I’ll believe this fight is going down when both guys step into the cage.
Sunday, March 21st will set off a string of GREAT MMA cards. And for anybody interested, I plan on posting some new & crazy artwork throughout the month of May or shall I say the Month of MMAY!
Oh yeah, I’m waiting for another BE or Sherdog post complaining about too many UFC cards . . . sigh.

I'll never complain about that...I'd watch a new UFC show everyday if I could
I like BOTH of these guys…hell I spent many days defending Rashad early on in his career…I don’t know who I want to win…I’m still torn on that part….I just hope it’s a war…I don’t want to see any 1:31 KO’s or anything…I want at least 2 rounds of them going at it.

I am right there with you on ALL POINTS.
However, Rashad will be circling Rampage because Quinton doesn’t want to chase his opponents around the ring. Evans will definitely do everything to frustrate Rampage.

rashad will frustrate rampage until it comes down to the knockout shot ala chuck liddell kind
brutal and out for 10 minutes. lol. should be interesting moneyline. i’ll say rashad -130 to -150 b/c rampage has not fought in so long. another on e of his problems he has toovercome.

Look at that picture up there. That is not KO’d? The beating Wanderlei put on that whiney nut-job not once, but twice, isn’t nullified by Rampage knocking Wanderlei out once.
haha
and i distinctly remember Rampage smiling whilst taking one of those beatings…but look, im not taking anything from Wands wins. he won fair and square, but there is a difference between knocking a fella out and stopping him with strikes.
theyve both knocked each other out once, no need to get your knickers in a twist lol…the sun will still rise in the morning :)
and i just found it amusing also that you would knock Rampage’s chin when its far better than Wands ever was lol

In Rampage’s defense, there were a lot of strikes involved . . . not a 1-punch KO and look at Wanderlei’s knees in the picture . . . you see Jackson’s blood.
Rampage chin > Liddell’s chin. I don’t recall anybody dropping or putting Rampage to sleep with 1 punch.

Rampage has been gone for over a year, has gotten horribly out of shape, and has been honest with the fact that he really isn’t interested in fighting anymore. He’s only coming back because he has to,despite all the pre-fight talk about wanting to fight Rashad more than anyone else and all that crap.
He looked disinterested and out of shape against Keith Jardine, and nearly lost that fight.Against a guy in Rashad who is just as good as Rampage at everything, and is quicker to boot,he’s not going to be able to get away with what he was able to against Jardine.
Honestly,I think Rampage will make everyone believe he’s back and better than ever in the lead up to the fight, then when he gets in there he’s going to look like a guy who hasn’t fought in a year and got wwwayyy out of shape in that time. He’s going to get soundly outhustled to a decision by a better, more modern version of himself.
I’ve always thought of Rampage and Rashad as like Ali and Larry Holmes.Rampage, just like Ali,gets all the love and attention, while Rashad, just like Holmes, gets zero love and no respect. And even if Rashad beats down Rampage like Holmes beat down Ali,he still won’t be respected, just like Holmes still isn’t respected.

i agree Rampage will probably be out of shape, etc
But in comparing their skillsets…and saying Rashad’s a better more modern version of Rampage…I don’t necessarily agree….I think Rampage’s boxing is much better as well as his boxing defense…in fact…his boxing defense is the best in MMA IMO…the way he moves his elbows to block stuff is incredible. In regards to wrestling…Rampage held his own against Henderson(albeit Hendo is a smallish LHW)..and he’s more decorated then Rashad is wrestling wise…granted this is all dependant upon Rampage being somewhat in shape….

the fat man (rampage)has to lose 45 pounds is unmotivated and will have had a long lay-off.
what does that add up to. rashad dancing around for the first 2 minutes to avoid the inevitable rampage attack blast that could only last the first 2 minutes than rashad frustrates him with bob and weaving and here comes the punch that he threw vs liddell. lights out does not only apply to james toney. rashad “sugar lights out” evans. peace.
