Decisions & Title Shots

Maynard and waiting to get a Title Shot

Star-divide

Maynard seems confused why Edgar whom he beat 2 years ago got a shot at BJ...and why he is still waiting.

Well, go over to Sherdog, Maynard has 7 decisions out of 8 fights he's won. Edgar on the other hand has at least 5 stoppage/finish victories to his credit. If you look closely, they've both decisioned the top tier guys they've faced, Edgar just did it in far more crowd friendly fashion. Maynard also laments/claims he asked to fight Sherk a number of times. I'm not sure when this was, but if it was in his blanket days, I can see why the brass turned it down. Sherk has become a far more fan-friendly fighter (in addition to dropping many a close fight as a result), but Gray has always tuned me out with his cage performances.

Getting sucked into a "whose **** is longer" contest with Nate Diaz is a metaphor for the cold reality that Maynard is not ready for BJ. Period. Nate had Gray's face looking all kinds of beat up after their fight....and BJ I think we would all agree hits waaaay harder than Stockton's younger Diaz brother.

Maynard knows why he ain't getting the shot

Seems like he’s just trying to get his name back in the mix or something…..beating Florian would definitely do that.

Maynard has no one to blame but himself. That gameplan against Diaz was very unsmart.

If he keeps winning who is going to deny him a title shot?

I like Maynard

I think he has the tools to be really good….people forget that the guy doesn’t have many fights at all…once he starts putting it all together…he’s going to be nasty IMO.

if u want to fight the champ (BJ) inside of maybe 2 fights…he’s gonna have to not fight like he did against Nate. it’s like Fitch wanting another crack at GSP…he’s had awhile to polish stuff, go to Thailand….but GSP still cuts him apart over 5 rds again.
